  The Faculty of History and Philology was created in 1951 as part of the Higher Pedagogical Institute, which was the first institution in Albania to prepare teachers with higher education for social and natural sciences. With the establishment of the State University of Tirana, in 1957, the Faculty of History and Philology became one of its seven faculties. Initially, it consisted of branches of history, language - literature, later the branch of journalism and Russian language was added. Since then, he has undergone extensive extensions and reorganizations. Thus, in the academic year 1960-1961 the branch of English was added and in 1966 the French language.
