One of the epic places to be visited in Tirana. This mosque was built in 1793 by a Molla Bey of Petrela. It is a cultural monument which has survived the dictatorial regime between 1945 to 1991 years. During this period Albania was the unique atheist state. Interior was painted by Venetian masters. Pleased to have this masterpiece in Albania.

History of this Mosque goes back to 300 years and this is the only Mosque that isn't destroid in communist Albania. Worth a visit.

Interesting, small, quiet space in this historic Mosque which is still in daily use. Pictures I've seen in other places show that the building got quite a kicking in the war the adjacent clock tower losing its Venetian styled top, so not sure how much is a recreation. Still well worth a look.
