A must see when you visit Antigua
Exquisite, World Class views. The intimate luxury spot
My business location
Great views. Upscale, modern condos, very clean, staff are around but not really seen unless you need them..rooms are spotless when you get back. Would highly recommend it.
Best vacation ever! Absolutely beautiful. The food is amazing and the locals are very friendly.
Stunning villas, gorgeous location!
We rented B7 & B8 for 5-nights with 3 other families and enjoyed our stay more than we imagined. The infinity pools in these two houses are huge and kids and us just feel like leaving the place to visit beaches or island. Since this is our first visit to Antigua and since we love photography, food, and nature we forced ourselves to rent cars and drive around island. The houses are very well maintained and the beds and sofa's are very very comfortable. They paid attention to every minor detail from small bathroom trashcans, to laundry room basket. We spent lot of our morning time in kitchen making breakfast for 14 of us and it never felt crowded. The dinning table setup near the pool of B7 is just amazing. We spent most of our time sitting there enjoying tropical fruits and junk food while taking in the views of the ocean and Montserrat island which is straight in front of the building. Even with my 70mm zoom, I was able to capture many clear images of the island.
The property landscape is very well maintained and colorful. It is very smartly maintained to not block any views from rooms. B7 basement can be accessed from the living area while the B8 basement can only be accessed by getting down the stairs from the pool area of B8. B8 basement bed is located in the huge open hall that has ping-pong table and Foosball table. It also has a full batch. B7 basement has separate bedroom with amazing ocean view, own bath and living area. Outside of the basement you again have lounge sofa's to enjoy the sunset.
The beach in front of Tamarind hills is ridiculously beautiful and shallow to walk and swim. But getting in to it initially requires crossing few rocks. You have to be very very careful while stepping over those rocks. We spent a lot of time in that water there and even walked towards Darkwood and Ffryers beaches. You can also take stairs from the property to get to Ffryers beach. If you are scared of depth, walk more towards rocks but it is entirely shallow all the way if you are over 5' 10" tall.
I thought none of our beach vacations can better La Zebra at Tulum or The Lone Star at Barbados. But Tamarind Hills trumps it all. You just need a car to drive to restaurants unless you are willing to spend a lot on taxis.
This is a beautiful house with beautiful views of the ocean and the volcanic island. Darkwood beach is a 2 minute walk away.
Tamarind Hills is absolutely gorgeous. Right on the waterfront. My husband was overseas on contract and made all the reservations for us. We were supposed to be in the largest villa. We got there and we're told we had to be moved to a different villa for whatever reason. My husband and I enjoyed our honeymoon until the end of our stay when we were informed that the villa we were placed into was reserved for another family. They wondered why we wanted such a big one and moved us to a smaller villa. They did compensate monetarily and with a couple of free meals. Gillian is very friendly. Howeverwe were moved to a villa that we were told had a pool. I was expecting a pool comparable to the one we were originally in. It was more like a big fountain. And the construction still going on was directly above us. The view, which was once open, clear, and gorgeous was now full of greenery and bushes.
Overall, I understand that things happen outside of our control, however we should have been informed as soon as they knew the villa we paid for wasn't going to be available.
Staff is very friendly and the villas are beautiful. However we were disappointed about having to move in the middle of our trip.
Tamarind Hills Cons:
• Prearranged pickup from airport was not there. Tried calling property manager but was unable to get in touch with her. Our taxi showed up 30 minutes after we called.
• No meet and greet into suite. Grounds staff let us in.(we were not the only guests who experienced this).
• Property manager wasn’t clear on how to properly work appliances. Appliances being European models made them difficult to operate.
• Unable to effectively utilize indoor/outdoor living concept (daytime was too hot and nighttime had too many mosquitos).
• Prearranged shade (which we requested 3 weeks prior to our arrival) was not made available for three days and then only one umbrella was provided. We were fighting for shade on the couch in one corner of the patio. The property manager and the development team blamed the unit owner for not wanting to pay for upgrades or repairs.
• There were no cloths provided to wash dishes so we went out and bought some. Upon our departure, management saw our dish cloths and commented that she was knew the suite didn’t have any cloths and that she was on her way to get some for the next arrivals.
• No information was provided for services /amenities offered at Tamarind Hills. We found out they have a massage therapist that comes on-site (we stopped her as she was walking by to an appointment). We brought this up with management and she said that there is supposed to be a brochure outlining this and that the previous tenants spilled something on it two weeks ago and it hasn’t been replaced. Management should have caught this in the initial walk through or while they were doing a turnover checklist – very disappointing.
• When we were leaving the unit and they were getting prepped for new arrivals – none of that preparation was done for us. We mentioned that we don’t remember seeing any of these welcoming touches when we arrived, but there was no comment from management.
• The property manager told us check out was at 11:00am. We told her our flight didn’t leave until 4:00pm but we’d be happy to let them in to start cleaning at 11:00. She told us that would be a problem. We asked her what else she suggested. We told her we could move our items out on the patio and would only be there until 1:00pm when our taxi was arriving. She didn’t offer a space to put our luggage or any alternatives until the next day when she said we could store our items in another suite. On the day of our departure the linens cleaner and property manager entered our suite but we did not see any of the other cleaning/turnover crew before we left. This made us wonder why she made such a big deal about us leaving the suite when she didn’t know when the next guests were arriving and the cleaners didn’t start cleaning until after we departed.
Maintenance/Unit Cons:
• Lack of shade and wind shelter. Talked with renters in next unit B4 – they couldn’t wait to leave due to lack of shade and lack of mosquito screens.
• Maintenance of unit neglected: Stove top fan not working, dishwasher soap dispenser didn’t work, blinds jammed and didn’t open.
• The lock on front patio door was broken. Management said they knew about it for two weeks and hoped we wouldn’t notice. The guests in unit B5 reported that their door locks weren’t working and they put wood in the door frame to keep them secure.
• Outside shower tap didn’t work. Management has known about it for a while and said they were waiting for a new one.
• Patio furniture smells like sweat and is extremely stained. The covers are removable but obviously never cleaned.
• Barbeque igniter not working.
• Lights burnt out.
• Mosquito fogging, although effective, was done shortly before sunset. We had to stay inside with our doors closed while this was occurring, often missing the sunset.
We rented unit B3. Tamarind is still in the development stages and we hope that things will improve.
My group and I were extremely excited to stay at this Villa in May of 2016. We reached out to them on Saturday of January. Finally heard back from Tricia on Monday letting me know that the Villa was available. I immediately expressed stated that we are ready to put a deposit down now. She informed me that there will be construction done in the area and may or may not disturb us. I requested that she follow up and find out the exact timing of the construction and get back to me. I had my whole group book flights. Tricia did not get back to me in the morning so I emailed her in the afternoon. Tricia came back to me late afternoon only to let me know that they put the the Villa on hold for someone else. Yes, this other person booked 4 Villas and I only needed one Villa. But that is extremely unprofessional. They can't tell me the Villa is available and have me book flights and then give it to the next person. My group lost over 3,300 for flights that we will not be using. Explained that to the owner, Rufus, and he did not even respond. Extremely unprofessional, poor communication and clearly money hungry. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Incredible spot. Amazing views, quiet, beautiful, beaches and a fabulous development of villas.
