Dr. George Roberts
Dr. George Roberts completed his general Medical education at the University of the West Indies in 1978. After graduation he worked in a range of Surgical specialties and residency programs in Jamaica, Trinidad and The U.S. before returning to Jamaica to formally specialize in ENT Surgery.

He became accepted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Otolaryngology, and then spent a year at the prestigious Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital in London as a Visiting Lecturer in Otolaryngology. Returning to Jamaica as a Senior Registrar in Otolaryngology, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine in Otolaryngology from the University of the West Indies.

He then returned to his native Antigua as its first resident ENT Surgeon in 1989, and indeed the first in the Organization of the eastern Caribbean States. Over more than two decades, he has operated regular specialist clinics and performed surgery in his native Antigua and the regional islands of St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, Montserrat and Tortola. He was instrumental in forming the Caribbean Association of Otolaryngologists, for which he hosted the first planned meeting of this body in Antigua, and served it in various capacities including being its Vice President and its representative to international meetings.

A member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology for over 15 years, he has made many presentations at its meetings and at the National Medical Association as well as at the CAO, primarily related to addressing the problems faced by Otolaryngologists in small island communities. He has also been part of American Academy of Otolaryngology delegations to China and Russia.

He has a passion for sharing his knowledge with the public, as he is convinced that, with a good deal of misinformation concerning ENT topics prevailing in the general public, education of the public makes his job much simpler. To this end he has written numerous articles in the local press, and spearheaded regular radio programs highlighting various Medical problems. This he fits in between his busy schedule encompassing his full time duties at the public and private hospitals, his office practice and his clinical duties abroad.

Married to Gwen, an Obstetrician, and with two children Marlon, an Engineer and Nicole a Medical student, he still finds time for his lifetime hobby and passion, music. A classically trained pianist, he has over the past 30 years written and arranged vocal and instrumental music for a wide range of situations. His music has been commercially recorded, and he has published a book of religious- oriented music entitled 'I just want to follow Jesus'. His music has been performed throughout the English- Speaking and Dutch Caribbean, Haiti, the Bahamas and Belize, and he has conducted Church music workshops in collaboration with the Methodist Church in various venues in the Caribbean region.
