Potworks Dam is a man made lake in the central regions of Antigua, the junction of several water courses and seasonal streams. A relatively large area is occupied by the actual dam with picnic and observation areas overlooking the dam. Located at the side of one of the main roads going to and from Areas such as Bethesda, New Field, St. Phillip's and other villages in the St. Phillip's Parish and other locations as well.
The Dam is a major water catchment area with a pump-house on the opposite side of the road. Fishing (for an introduced variety of Tilapia).
A site for many events and parties at the observation area and for viewing the splendid landscape inclusive of the dam itself. Although in a natural valley the dam can be seen from elevated landscapes in the surrounding areas and also the Agricultural plantations (with rich black soil sometimes used as topsoil) in the immediate vicinity of the Dam which uses water for irrigation from the dam.
The Dam is also a habitat (at least migratory) for birds and waterfowls including Ducks, Pelicans and Frigate Birds. Potworks Dam is definitely without a doubt an interesting and scenic point of interest in Antigua.response / report this review -
