I'm originally from Antigua, but emigrated to the US several years ago. I return to Antigua every winter to visit family and there is only one place I know I MUST visit - Mauro's.
From the roadside, this place is unassuming, but the pizza is truly world class. I have been fortunate to travel to many countries around the world and my benchmark for pizza is measured against Mauro's. "Is this better than Mauro's or not as good." I've yet to find anything better. This is legitimate Italian pizza made from a man who makes everything from scratch and who has probably made hundreds of thousands of pizzas in his lifetime.
Couple of tips:
This restaurant is open - air, so if the breeze isn't blowing, the mosquitoes can be up. Carry some OFF with you.
Also, the restaurant is usually closed for the offseason. They usually re-open in November and run through April.
Favorite Pizza: 'The Famous Mauro' - it's got everything on it including an egg in the center. It's fantastic!response / report this review -
