Excellent diving experience
I highly recommend DiveCarib if you're diving in Antigua. The diving was beautiful--saw rays, puffers, eels, variety of fish, lobster, and octopus. Leigh was an excellent guide. His briefing was clear and informative so we knew what to expect on the dive, he pointed out a lot of great stuff I wouldn't have otherwise seen, and he checked in on the group throughout the dive to ensure safety. I've dove all over the world, and DiveCarib was one of the best shops I have been to!
These guys are solid. I haven't dived for a few years, but Lee took the time to explain the entire days itinerary and had attention to detail above and below the water. Saw rays, barracuda, and all kinds of fish.
2 great dives out of English Harbour, a great group of guys and girls to dive with!
Awesome experience, top notch facility!
Highly recommend DiveCarib if you are planning any diving (or snorkelling for that matter) in Antigua.
Booking/planning the dives was a breeze. Bryan responds quickly to emails and payment is easy (Paypal, credit card, cash).
We did 4 dives in total (2 dives per day) – the sites we dived were: Pillars of Hercules, Black’s Point (very nice swim through full of glass fish), Red Rocks (lots of giant lobster and some very elegant Southern Stingrays in the sand) and finally, Carib House (couple of big barracuda visited us on our safety stop 🙂 All sites were beautiful. No current, warm water and endless amounts of life.
Leigh is an awesome dive master. Super relaxed and very professional. Both my partner and I hadn't been diving for about four years so it was reassuring to have a true master at the helm.
Each morning before getting on the boat we had a 20-minute sit down with Leigh to discuss the upcoming dives. Leigh is meticulous in explaining what the dive profile will be like, what we can expect to see and what he expects from us in terms of signals etc.
During the chat with Leigh, Courtney would be busy the loading the dive boat with the equipment (thank you for your hard work Courtney)
The dive boat itself is rather cool - jet powered and very stable. It has a drop front which means getting on and off it from the jetty is a breeze. It also has a small platform at the back with steps into the water which makes life easier when getting back on the boat after a dive.
Dive equipment is absolutely top notch. Best equipment we have ever used. BC’s with integrated weights, nice quality regulators, tanks clean, new and all with valid inspection certificates.
If we are ever back in Antigua, you can be sure we will be diving with DiveCarib again.
Thank you Bryan, Leigh and Courtney for an outstanding dive experience!
Additional notes:
1) If you’re interested in technical diving, Google ‘Leigh Cunningham wreck dive world record’ and read about his record breaking deep wreck dive (205 metres!)
2) If you are planning on hiring a car on Antigua, ask Bryan for details. He gave us a contact who hired us a car for way cheaper than the ones you will find online from the big names
DiveCarib is a very professional dive shop which I think many people will be pleasantly surprised to see. I just completed my Divemaster certification (in fact I did my advanced open water and Rescue diver course with them too) here at DiveCarib and have come away feeling incredibly prepared and qualified to plan and lead divers of any level.
Every diver is treated with complete respect that all customers deserve and they all enjoy a great diving experience. Starting with thorough briefings that leaves no one confused as to how the day will go and what they will be doing, to a neat and tidy (and well equipped) dive boat, already loaded with their gear and refreshments. The facility is kept clean and looks very professional allowing guests to see the regularly washed scuba gear neatly organized before them.
The diving itself is great as well, as DiveCarib is located near the best dive spots in Antigua. With deeper diving options in open and exposed water to shallower diving options in bays protected by headlands, every level of diver will finds options suited for them here. The dive sites DiveCarib go to have very dense coral formations and some dive sites with really large boulders which in some cases create cool swim-throughs. Guests commonly get to see nurse sharks, turtles, sting rays, eagle rays, barracuda, giant lobster (really big ones), and more.
I had about 5 dive-shops in this part of the world I was considering going to for my Divemaster, and I have no doubt I chose the right one. It is a great feeling at the end of the day to see every single customer having walked away happy. I will definitely dive with the boys at DiveCarib when I'm back in Antigua.
We experienced several dives with Dive Carib and on each occasion we were incredibly well looked after, in the shop by Bryan and out on the dives with Leigh. Both guys were full of knowledge of what we would see on our dives, and lead us directly where to find the aquatic treasures. We experienced Sharks (which was our objective)! The dives were well planned and considered the less experienced divers also on our trip. At the end of an extremely exciting day, all the divers, of all experiences, were bubbling about the dives like excited teenagers!! Massive grin factor! Still the best in the Caribbean by our findings!!!
