manipal University started as a medical college in small town called manipal in kerala, India about 60 yeats ago. centre of educational excellence in five countries catering to over 350,000 students like medicine, engineering, management, architecture,hotel management,communications, allied health sciences and nursing among others

Firstly, I graduated in 2011 which is quite a long time ago. I started my journey in 2007, back when we were on the trimester schedule. I have been back to the island three times since graduation so I have seen the progress. When I was on the island, our campus and resources were basic. You can still drive by the overgrown Friar's Hill Road campus and see what I am talking about. Our classes were held in metal warehouses that were updated as best as they could be and construction on the new campus you guys are in was started my last semester. We had no education enhancement department, no simulators, a shaky tutoring program and had an inconsistent 5th semester program. What we did have was some of the best professors that, to this day, I have ever had. What we lacked in infrastructure we excelled in education. This is why my class succeeded as well as the next couple of classes and really paved the way for future students today. Now that AUA has the infrastructure in place, the approvals, federal loans as well the education you receive, there is no reason a student may not succeed.
Although I am not a current student, from my three trips back to AUA since graduation, I have seen the evolution of the school. The campus is amazing and continues to expand. The resources available, especially for the struggling student, are probably better than I had in my US undergrad. The simulators and labs mirror that or are better than some US medical schools. I have also witnessed first hand the faculty and teaching methods which are still top notch and rival US programs. I matched in a residency that historically did not take many IMGs and majority those matched were US grads. I was the first AUA grad in their program. Now there have been multiple AUA grads since and knowing my PD, this is his trust that AUA is paving quality grads. This again was back in 2011. I am currently a Hospitalist in a teaching hospital and spend half of my time between two different outpatient offices.
When I started, going to the Caribbean was a bit of a gamble, especially with AUA being so new. I took a risk but I felt confident in the administration as I saw how dedicated they were with improving the school. Now, with all that AUA has to offer, there is no reason not to consider AUA as your #1 choice outside a USMD program.response / report this review -

Attended AUA and graduated in 2011! Matched OBGYN residency at my #1 choice The Medical College of Georgia as an OBGYN resident! I am now a solo OBGYN practioner in Athens Ga after starting my own practice! The education and training that AUA provided enabled me to become a very successful physician! Never once while doing rotations or encountering fellow residents did I feel that my education was below that of my colleagues. I believe AUA offers the opportunity for students who are willing to work hard and do their part to be successful in any field they choose!

great campus, state of the art facilities, faculty responsive to students, education is priority. I got there in 2010 and we were the first class in the new building. there were alot of growing pains, but we managed to get thru it. I do wish 5th semester helped me more with clinicals, perhaps starting earlier and going to clinics or hospitals in the first semester would be better. My rotations were solid, top hospitals and affiliates and my experiences led me to the path towards my career. I am starting my intern year in surgery at Jackson Memorial this June and excited to represent AUA as a graduate!

I went to AUA in 2009. Today, I'm 4th year chief resident in the Internal Medicine program in one of the good hospitals in NY. I got Board certified in Internal Medicine right after my 3rd year. I'm starting fellowship from July 2017 in Hematology & Oncology, which is one of the top competitive specialties.
After completing 2 years in AUA, I did all of my clinical rotations in my preferred state, New York, without any breaks. Education in AUA is outstanding. I passed all my exams with good scores in 1st attempt. I did excellent in Internal Medicine Board Exam as well.
Teachers in AUA are very friendly and supportive. It is a very beautiful and pleasant place to study medicine. I'm more than grateful to AUA for providing an amazing opportunity and creating excellent physicians.response / report this review -

This school gave me a chance to fulfill my dream of becoming a practicing physician in the US. Med school isn't a cake walk. It requires hard work, personal sacrifice and a great deal of stamina to endure the challenges you face along this journey. What AUA did was provide the resources and opportunity to allow me to succeed and challenge me to achieve levels of academic and professional success I wasn't sure I had. I matched into a residency on time, as expected and very easily might I add partly because of the reputation AUA has established is Graduate Medical Education as producing quality doctors.

I've read horrible reviews on the horrible quality of Indian private medical schools and AUA being owned by manipal is no different. AUA is a rude awakening to anyone who doesn't know how Indian medical schools work - if you give professors bribe or belong to their caste, then you are guaranteed a residency. Else, you are screwed.

After being an AUA student for just about two years, I can honestly say that I am grateful to call it my home. AUA is a diverse university where students from all around the world come to challenge ourselves on the path to becoming a physician. I am proud to be surrounded by some of the most competitive, driven and downright brilliant students I have ever had the privilege of knowing in all of my years of education. The fact that every university has its challenges goes without saying, but what AUA has accomplished in just 11 short years is truly remarkable. From Title IV to expanding rotation sites, it really wont get much better. All in all, I am proud to be an AUA student, and I will miss my colleagues and campus when setting off for clinicals. I am sure your experience can be just as rewarding, if you let it!

This is the worst possible school on this planet. They didn't teach us nothing I had to struggle so much to pass my boards all the teachers there are failures so they have no interest in teaching The board is more involved in everyone's personal life than actually educating students. Its just the worst possible combination you can think of! I wasted so much time and money.wish I would have gone to another school. BAD LUCK!

worst possible school.this school is owned by manipal in india which is corrupt to the core..professors are known for cheating and lying. a lot of professors come from india with the intention to make money only..they don't care about students nor are they fit to teachnot many students get residencies
