I worked their with the Flour Corporation at East 1 and East 2 Dining Facilities for over two years, leaving in the autumn of 2012. I heard the base closed in 2013. Two seasons, hot in the summer and freezing with a foot of snow in the winter. Daily incoming rocket and mortar attacks ten months out of the year. Went through the big truck bombing in August 2012, the fuel point attack in October the same year, and the direct hit on the Jordanian DFAC. I won't miss the place.

As soon as I got there I saw people crowded around flaming trashcans like it was some kind of post-apocalyptic slums. I awoke many times in the middle of the night to the annoying loudspeakers. What's with this place? There were also these weird blimps flying around and you had to wait forever to use a phone. Don't think I'll be returning.

Unfortunately it has gone out of business. Really enjoyed my stay here. The incoming kept things from getting dull. Oasis was on point. C-RAMs always put on a nice light show. The dust storms kept anything from being too clean and helped disguise the base. Great view of the night sky. Don't forget your flashlight and watch for the speedbumps.

Decent place to be deployed to. It on freezer mode in the winter and on hell in the summer. If your from the north states of the US you will be used to this weather. It's hard to sleep at times because our neighbors are a little noisy sometimes. It really doesn't matter what time of the day. I wish they would just stop throwing stuff on our lawn. Its getting annoying and its very inconsiderate.
