The airport has been expanded and modernized in the last decade. A new international terminal was added and the older terminal is now used for domestic flights. A number of military bases were also built around the airport, which are used by the United States Armed Forces and NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The Afghan Air Force also has a base there[6], while the Afghan National Police provide security inside the passenger terminals.

I gave it more stars just for staying open as much as it does. The airport is fairly efficient but limited in what it can provide--both at the airport and beyond. There is no excessive searching but it is relatively thorough. The temperature in the airport is variable. The bathrooms are relatively clean. Seating is as usual. Probably the worst thing about the airport is the PA system. It is muffled and so unclear that no one ever knows where to go.

Afghanistan is backward country located in the center of middle east of Asia
kabul is the capital of the country
which has only one airport called hamid karzai international airport

Old airport nothing ended since 1960 if you only fly with emirates,flydubai and tk airlines you can board your plane with bridge but it’s very much security

Some progress in the last few years but mostly superficial. Process is broken and staff is confused and untrained. Pack patience and be prepared for a CF. This is a pic of the "Business Lounge".

Afghanistan's biggest airport. As can be expected security is tight. But the people are friendly. I have been in and out of Afghanistan many times thru this airport and never had any problems. Just make sure your documents and visas are in order.

I think the name "Kabul international Airport" would have been better than Hamid Karzai International Airport. The previous name sounds better and logical than this one with respect to Ex-President Karzai.

Hamid Karzai International Airport (IATA: KBL, ICAO: OAKB) is located 16 kilometers (9.9 mi) from the city center of Kabul in Afghanistan. It serves as one of the nation's main international airports capable of housing over one hundred aircraft. Previously known as the Kabul International Airport, it was renamed in October 2014 after former Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Because I am from that city and I really like it very much. And it is very clean airport than other Pakistani airport. The most beautiful airport that neighbor city airport. it not real photo but it is in the game which i made it.

It has become better now. It used to be a nightmare for travelers. They have two separate terminals, one for domestic and the second for international one. The domestic is okay, nit crowded, but a very bad terminal, only one single shop and there you cannot opt for anything to get, the international is very crowded and you have wait in line for at least 45 mins before you can get to terminal. Inside is crowded and not good air conditioning. Mazar airport and terminal is better than this
