Don't get here too early. They check in order and do so 3 hours before flight and there is nothing to do at all. Also you put your bags through a security search before checking in

If you are picking up a friend, tell them you will meet them at the Meeting point and tell them you will stand next to the Du counter and Costa.For friends coming in for the first time this is perfect

If you pass through here frequently, get an UAE "e-gate" card. You can get one from the area above the airline check-in at Terminal 1. You will zip through passport control. Google "UAE e-gate".

If you fly international nit using Emirates be aware that the check-in might only open 3h prior t/o. Being their earlier u are stuck with nothing to do but drink cheap coffee in cheap restaurants
