We always see this mosque in the UAE five dirhams money note, but not realizing that this mosque still exist Salem Al Motawa Mosque is renovated a few years ago and it is located in the old area of Khorfakkan on the UAE east coast just before the city’s sea port. This mosque used to be “Madrasa” school where people go learn Quran and other basic school topics. People say that it was built originally some 500 years ago It is a quite place and a short walk in the area can lead you to some other old ruins and residential areas.

قد لا تكون قصة مسجد سالم المطوع في مدينة خورفكان في إمارة الشارقة كمثيلاتها، إذ إن مئذنته الشهيرة التي لا يتنبه لها كثيرون تحمل الرسم نفسه المطبوع على عملة الإمارات فئة الـ5 دراهم الورقية. والمسجد الأثري الذي رمم قبل سنوات، يعود بناؤه إلى قرنين من الزمن ويحتفظ بأهمية معمارية ضمن مباني الساحل الشرقي حيث شيد بسواعد رجال خورفكان من عائلة النقبي.
ويحمل المسجد العريق اسم إمامه الذي عرف عنه حضوره التام للصلوات الخمس حتى بعدما فقد بصره، ومن حكايات ذلك الزمان يتذكر أهل المدينة تاريخ المسجد الذي خرج العشرات من مشايخ الدين الذين تتلمذوا في رحابه وكانوا يجتمعون فيه لمناقشة حلقات العلم. ويمثل مسجد سالم المطوع اليوم صورة عن ضرورة الحفاظ على الرموز المعمارية القديمة لمجتمع الإمارات، وهو لا يزال مكانا تقام فيه الصلوات الخمس.response / report this review
