Kiku is located in the 5 star Le Meridien Dubai Hotel + Conference Center at Garhoud. The hotel itself hosts a number of fantastic options and Kiku is definitely one of them.
Japanese food is usually decent regardless of where you go, but Kiku brings you an authentic experience that will have you wanting to jump on the next plane to Japan to experience more of their heritage and culture. There is average Japanese food, decent Japanese food and you have Kiku, who brings you an amazing experience that will make you only want to dine at authentic restaurants from now on. It has been some time since I’ve had authentic Japanese food and I am glad to have visited Kiku.
Even before you enter the restaurant, you will notice it is decorated with a Japanese style entrance with cloth that is dangling above the door, which was a nice first impression. Once you are inside you will most likely find the place to be packed at dinner time with diners and it wouldn’t be possible to get a table without a reservation.
Kiku serves common dishes that you would expect to find at a Japanese restaurants, then they have unique dishes like Komochi Konbu , which were 2 rows of herring roe with seaweed in the middle, something that I hadn’t seen before but appreciated. Another dish that I was delighted to try was the Ika to Uni AE – squid with seaweed on top and mixed with sea urchin. Squid sashimi is nothing new but it is not very often that you find one that is mixed with sea urchin, this is something that I would only expect to find at Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo.
To accompany your meal, Kiku also offers a plethora of sake rice wines that you wish you could have with every meal. As the Japanese highly enjoy rice wines, Kiku ensures that you have a great experience with the seemingly never ending selection available. I tried a variety of dishes and thought that they were all authentic in terms of taste, there was nothing fusion about the dishes on the menu at all.
Teamwork was also obviously visible throughout the night as there were servers constantly walking around, helping each other out, there was never any point in the evening where they said, talk to your own server, it was a team environment which is probably why some of the servers have been there for a very, very long time. Perhaps the longest reign belongs to our server, Cherry, at 11 years and counting. Cherry was wonderfully energetic and it was a joy to be taken care of by her. The level of customer service, dedication and commitment to their work is exemplified by their manager, Jack, who has been with the restaurant for a impressively long period of 19 years!
If you have ever been to Japan, you will understand the level of authenticity that Kiku brings, everything from their grills, soups, noodles both cold and hot will instantly take you back to Japan. No wonder 90% of their customers are Japanese and the remaining clients are ones who are brave enough to try something new and were surely rewarded for their choice.response / report this review -

Kiku is one of my favourite Japanese restaurant in Dubai. They have plenty of variety of Japanese food. If your good enough with reading Japanese they do serve some dishes that are not listed in English menu.

In city with a lot of Japanese restaurants, this is our consistent favorite. It is frequented by Japanese travelers, so I guess that is a serious endorsement. The sushi is always good. Other favorites are the pork gyoza, the miso and the bento boxes with the salmon and pork. It can fill up quickly so book ahead if you want to reserve your spot, especially on the weekends.

I went there with a Japanese friend that recommended this great restaurant and I agree it is nicely authentic, good service and excellent food, go there around 7pm to see all kind of Asian people to feel like you are there!

It will always be my favourite Japanese restaurant to go to because of the good food, good location, and most of all good service. Kiku is one of the 18 restaurants of Le Meridien Dubai and the hotel has a loyalty program which gives you discounts and freebies. SPG card can also give you loyalty points or discounts and some major credit cards so ask your server ahead of time. Hot or cold green tea is served free with your meal and don't miss out on trying their sake for a more enjoyable meal.
