  Its full of mountain and by the way to hattaa we can see camels, fox etc .its a good drive to drivers

  Hatta was main economic factor is tourism and water.Historically the area was able to grow date palms,the fruits were used as a food source, while the tree was used for building material.It has a popular Heritage Village

  Visited Muscat during Mar 2017. Few points to note:
  > Those who have Dubai registered car with bank mortgage, need to exit / enter through Hatta border. We tried exit through Kalba road and was not allowed.
  > Those who have UAE Residency visa validity lesser than 3 months is at the discretion of UAE and Oman immigration officials, on case to case basis. Passports should be valid at least 6 months.
  > On entering back to UAE, we had to take Kalba-Sharjah road from Hatta. According to UAE official at the checkpost after Hatta (towards Dubai), only GCC citizens are allowed to pass through Hatta-Dubai road which crosses into Oman for a short stretch. He regretted that we had to take a longer route.

  The road is mostly without signs at this time, March 2017. We have made this trip many times before to renew our Visa and it was straight forward to Hatta. Now, however, only Emerates or Oman folks can use the old road that goes straight into Hatta. The new road is desolate and much longer and very scary at night, even though it is a brand new road. The signage is intermittent, and there were times we had no idea whether to turn left or right to continue our journey. Suggestion: Pay the fee to upgrade your visa, and forgo this trip. It is not worth it.

  The process of exiting and entering the uae borders is very fast and well organised..
  But i suggest to the office to put more clear directions for expats ..
  Otherwise i want to thank all the border staff for there efforts.

  This post is equipped with most latest systems and staff is up to date. Majority of the tourists pass through this border therefore immigration office is similar to the standard of Dubai Airport.
  The service is better than other borders and quick as well, however expect crowd and long queues during public holidays and long weekends.
  Do not forget to take insurance of your vehicle if not mentioned on the registration card then better keep the insurance paper print out with you otherwise you would require to do it on the border which is a slow process.
  There is Dubai Duty Free shop inside the immigration/Visa office at UAE side however an ordinary small hyper market is present at Oman side along with Pizza Hut Express.
  Once you got your Visa at any border you are not supposed to follow the Car queue and you can cross the check post form the right side.
