Isn't wow, good for one time visit. One of my picture is edited and another is raw.
4X not required unless planing to explore the dunes further more.
Any sedan hatch back can easily reach near this area.
Keep it clean.
Beware on this rocks it is not as solid as you may think, don't get hurt.response / report this review -

Decent place for a quiet camp. Met a fairly new camel corpse. Had pure white bones. Hard to pitch tents so be sure to prepare accordingly.

Fun place to take the family and out of town guests. Easy access for any car or truck (does not need to be a 4x4). Come an hour before sunset and watch the planes land at Al Dhafra Air Base then enjoy a desert campfire under the stars.

Just a place to see the rocks and their formation.
Nice place and no need a four wheel drive to go here.

It's all same area named Wathba Sand Stones. They don't seem to be fossil dunes. The stones are formed by the salty sand. The general geography of that area is low lying at sea level.
Al Wathba wet land also you can see similar formations. But high dunes are found only at this location. It's worth making a trip once.response / report this review -

Amazing view, not so crowded. Make sure you have 4x4 going up the dunes, but normal cars can get to the bottom part (hard sand)

Very cool and relatively unknown place. There are several locations within a few km of each other that you can see fossil dunes, some require a 5 minute off road drive.

Short drive from Abu Dhabi. The dunes are better further down the road from where google lists it though. After the pinned location, drive about 3km further, past the first camel farm and the small dune. You will see a "road" and the formations in the distance. There are some animal bones and trash at the first part of it, but it gets better and it is very beautiful! Must check it out.
