Description

The Zambia National Commission for UNESCO pursues to develop an improved standard of living for Zambians through UNESCO programmes in the fields of education, human and social sciences, culture and communication and information. The Commission contributes to the objective of national prosperity by complementing government efforts in fostering socio-economic development.

The Commission advises and works with the Government of Zambia on matters relating to UNESCO strategies. It aims to foster international peace and understanding through collaboration with other UNESCO member states.

As a national organisation it disseminates information concerning UNESCO and its activities in Zambia as well as all over the globe and ensures Zambia's participation in international conferences, meetings and trainings organized or sponsored by UNESCO.

The Commission furthermore coordinates, executes, supervises and advises on the implementation of UNESCO-sponsored projects and programmes in Zambia.
