Description

As a central landmark in the community of State Center since the 1950’s, citizens of our city take much pride in the Rose Garden that provides the setting for our claim as “The Rose Capital of Iowa”. Located in the southeast part of State Center and lining a portion of Iowa’s Scenic Byway US Highway 30, a landscaped garden has been developed specializing in and showcasing many varieties of beautiful roses. This garden in “The Rose Capital of Iowa” features a collection of old and new roses, and includes an old-fashioned gazebo as a viewing station and lights to allow its residences scenic views during evening strolls. The Rose Garden Board’s rotating 5 members along with its hired caretaker devote much time and energy to continually maintain as well as improve their beloved landmark. Our garden is showcased annually during the 4-day Rose Festival held the third weekend in June.
