Description

Compass Rose Cellars is a small Hill Country Winery in historic Hye, Texas. Situated atop a plateau with a gated entry off Hye-Albert Road, the rustic tasting room, covered timber patio, outdoor pavilion, and extensive grounds, we are blessed with amazing views and a relaxed vibe. And some of the most fun, loyal wine club people you would ever want to meet - Welcome to The Journey!

Great Wine:
Compass Rose sources Texas fruit from growers in our original home of Mason County to produce small batch #TxWine. We also work with growers in the High Plains and elsewhere in the state to present a tidy lineup of interesting red and white wines, including a port or madeira style finisher we call the Iron Spike. Our young winemaker, Tony Offill, hails from McPherson Cellars in Lubbock and is quickly establishing himself here in the Hill Country.

You can taste our wines two ways:
1. Walk-up tastings, no appointment necessary
2. Wine by the glass or bottle, on our porch, at a table with lunch, or on the lawn.

Great Music:
We are tapping into the vast live music scene of Austin and finding that our humble venue is quickly becoming a favorite place for talented musicians and bands to play on weekends!

Conveniently located just a mile off 290, you will definitely "rediscover" that Texas Hill Country Winery feel that is sometimes overlooked on the bustle of Wine Road 290. We bought this property in this spot for a reason! One visit and you'll see why.

Come see us on the Hye Overlook. No appointment necessary, walk-up tastings available. If you have a group or if you want to reserve a tasting, please do visit our website, otherwise come on over and see what the Hye Experience is all about at Compass Rose Cellars.
