Very unprofessional cashier.
The cashier had a sour look on her face, didn’t even say hello, or make eye contact when she started ringing up my order, but she did eventually ask if I wanted a bag (you have to purchase those in CA now). I said yes to a bag. She rang up the items in my order, when it came to the bottle of wine I was purchasing she needed to see my ID. No problem. I showed her my ID and she said “take it out, I have to scan it.” I’ve never had my ID scanned at a Target before so I’m wondering if this is something new. I was at another Target the week prior and the cashier only needed to see my ID and not scan it. Anyway, she was a bit blunt and I was bit irritated at that point so I took my ID out and flipped it over and she was a bit firm when taking the ID out of my hand and then she scanned it and I returned the gesture by quickly taking my ID out of her hand.
She then started speaking to me and I could not understand or hear what she was saying and had to ask her three times to speak up. She then said I am disrespecting her and said something to the effect of: “should I call security over here?” And I told her that I wasn’t disrespecting her and she said that I was because I *yanked* my driver’s license out of her hand and she feels that’s disrespectful and needs to call security over and get them involved. I then kindly reminded her that she is not very pleasant herself by not even greeting me and if there is a problem then she needs to call her manager over right away to discuss the issue. I then asked two more times for her to invite the manager over to discuss the matter and that did not happen.
She finished totaling the order, gave me the receipt, I took it from her hand (not forcefully) and she felt that I was being forceful again and said "see, you’re very disrespectful." She then remembered by bag, plunked it down next to my order and made me bag all of my items myself. While I was bagging my purchase, she happily greeted the next customer in Spanish before even ringing the first item up. And I also have a hunch that she was making unprofessional comments about me in Spanish. I bagged the order and then went to look for a manager.
I located the manager who also happened to be with the security guard at the time, I then rehashed the experience and the security guard was the first to speak up about the overall unprofessionalism and asked which cashier it was and I pointed out the cashier to both him and the store manager. The cashier was aware at that time of the dialogue that was taking place between the manager, security guard, and myself.
Both the manager and security guard were very professional and apologetic. The manager asked if there was anything else he could do other than coach the cashier. The primary complaint that I had is that the cashier was threatening me with security action when I had done nothing illegal or wrong. I also suggested that maybe greeting the customer would be a good idea and to ask her to be a bit more professional and not act like a hypersensitive millennial. Whether or not the manager will even act on this issue is another story, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt because he was a very customer-service focused manager.
I could see being treated this way if I had done something heinous, deviant, or flat out disrespectful but to be threatened with security, marginalized, and made to feel like a total pile of excrement by an unprofessional cashier when I’m the customer paying money is beyond the pale. Over the years I have gone out of my way to shop at Target(s) and avoid Walmart at all costs. But this experience (along with the bathroom stance issue) is really making Walmart a bit more attractive. I will never go back to the Target at the Bristol Marketplace in Santa Ana where this incident occurred, but I’m still going to give other Target stores my business for the time being.

Found a great black free-standing mirror that no other location has. It was convenient, affordable and pretty cool. I got in and out very quickly.

I love this target, I go to SAC and I always feel welcomed when I come! I love how everyone is so helpful, not one employee has ignored me or tried to avoid me. I will definitely keep coming after class to spend money on unnecessary things! Haha thank you, staff.

Went in looking for a two wheeled bundle carrier and was ultimately guided to the right ailse. Both employees took the time needed to make for a pleasant experience.

I love coming here. Always fast. Just in and out. Prefer using the self check out since it's so much quicker and not many people use them.

I ordered some stuffs from Target. I love Target, but this time I can't. I ordered 2 tubes foundation, and one of them is already opened. I am so disappointed, for what I got.

You go in for one item come out with half the store! 😂 Love their dollar section, pretty good place to find stocking stuffers or simple gifts. Usually have stuff on clearance, you can find some great things if you look carefully. 😉

Looking for a new smartphone, Luis in that department was really helpful, well informed and any questions He wasn't 100% about, he quickly looked into and got the answers to. What I was really impressed by is although the staff was eager to help, the were not over-baring or push in any way. If you need new tech, or looking for a gift, but aren't knowledgeable in this area, I strongly recommend going here. Very honest and helpful, not just there for a quick sale.

Almost ANY toy you are looking for can be found here. I found collector's GI Joe's for my husband. I can't wait to surprise him! There are new toys - all Disney items and also older toys- I saw a Fury!! I will definitely make this a go to toy store!
