Salt Lick Point Stewardship Committee
The Reserve protects bluff land forests which provide a critical habitat and support rare hill prairies and glades. Salt Lick Point is home to several threatened and endangered plant and animal species, some of which are only native to Illinois bluff areas. Many of the native plants and flowers are unable to grow and flourish on the prairies and glades as they once did due in part to the invasion of exotic plants and lack of natural maintenance.
