This is an interesting place to visit and, obviously, a lot of work has gone into running, expanding, and maintaining the business. Employees were helpful. Unfortunately, some perennials listed on their website and/or displayed on the grounds were not available. Availability and prices of some items were better back at home in local nurseries and at least one big box store. Many hostas, which Hornbaker had an abundance of, appeared to be affected by weather and/or insects. Especially if you plan to make a long drive there, as we did, perhaps May would be a better time for selection, fewer biting bugs, and more comfortable temperatures for walking the grounds.

This place is magnificent. My wife loves hostas and she was ecstatic over their selection. She has collected hostas from many regional places. Hornbacker Gardens is a bit out of her range but now that we have found it we are considering going back.

Ordered a large number of exclusively fragrant hostas with white blooms - unavailable locally. I was very pleased with the large root mass of each hosta, and the correlating large initial size of each plant after leaves emerged, relative to the cost of the plant. How wonderful to so easily shop for specific cultivars and have them delivered in such a superior size and condition. BRAVO Hornbaker Gardens! I will be ordering more!
