Description

Lauren Absher is an experienced registered dietitian and nutritionist who specializes in eating disorder treatment. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in dietetics in 2007 at Brigham Young University. She also finished her master's in public health in 2015 at Brigham Young University. After working at Center for Change for six years, she set up her own practice in 2014.

Lauren specializes in the following nutrition concerns:

Anorexia
Bulimia
Binge eating disorder
Other eating disorders or disordered eating
Unbalanced exercise
Emotional eating/overeating

Lauren uses a non-diet approach for all clients. She teaches what an appropriate amount of food is for your body. She also teaches you how to give yourself permission to eat without depriving yourself of any type of food, how to combat any negative mindset about food or body size, and how to stop determining your value based on what you eat. Additionally, Lauren encourages you to be involved in the goal-setting process.

With a master’s in public health, Lauren addresses other aspects of health that can impact weight and food intake. These include activity level, sleeping patterns, medical conditions, and medications. Lauren encourages clients to receive medical or psychological evaluation for certain conditions which may contribute to weight gain, weight loss, or unhealthy eating patterns.

Lauren has experience working with clients who have nutrition-related conditions that require diet modification. She helps these individuals to navigate what nutrition changes they can make to restore health and limit feelings of deprivation.

This includes:

Celiac disease
Food allergies
Diabetes
Polycystic ovary syndrome
High blood pressure
High cholesterol/triglycerides
Irritable bowel syndrome
Gastroparesis
