Graphic design is an ever-changing profession that responds to global influences and technical innovations. Students learn to design in the context of the Gulf region while being exposed to the wider world through participation in exchange and internship programs, study abroad, international competitions and the VCUQatar biennial international design conference, Tasmeem. Within the educational framework of an American university, the graphic design curriculum embraces a commitment to working with, and advocating for Qatar, the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East in a diversity of contexts.

The graphic design seniors will be presenting their 'thesis interests' in short 5-minute presentations tonight!
The presentations are intended as a way for the students to put their thinking out into the world with the purpose of opening a dialog with you. The presentations are in the corridor near the student lounge. The setting is very informal and you can float in and out as you please. We plan to have finger food and snacks. Join us!

This collaborative installation by the GDES program highlights two projects, emergent graphic forms and human-centered strategies that together explore the many possibilities within the graphic design discipline. Students not only create Islamic patterns generated through code, but also contribute to community engagement by working with local shop owners on dynamic brand identities.
