Description

Casas Caiadas | boutique home is designed for hosting a single couple, families, or groups, up to eight people (possibly 10 pax from May to September).

You will find 3 independent houses, fully restored from a core of old water mills, in the heart of an Alentejo with waterways, luscious green landscape most of the year and megalithic rocks.

The social house consists of a kitchen, living and dining room: the meeting place per excellence, very welcoming, where handicraft objects combine with great elegance with furniture and minimalist pieces.

The other two houses are, respectively, a suite installed in a stone house and a house with 3 more rooms: a suite (room + bathroom) and 2 bedrooms with a sharing bathroom. The beach-like swimming pool installed between an ancient waterway of the mills maintains its most natural form. A place to relax by a stream that runs between stones, surrounded by centennial olive trees, menhirs and a beach-like swimming pool.

Around Casas Caiadas (whitewashed houses) there are fabulous country rounds to explore: walk or take a bike (3 bikes available). Nearby, there are villages of unique beauty and historical interest, with castles and other monuments, great restaurants and wineries (detailed information available on request).

Alentejo has distinct seasons, with a green spring rich in wild flowers. In the early summer, storks build their nests on rooftops in whitewashed villages, and the heat turns the plains to gold. And when night falls the sky offers a chance to contemplate the stars with visibility conditions like no other place in the south of Europe.

At Casas Caiadas it is as if you were alone in the world, despite the fact that the small village of Sabugueiro is located a little over a kilometer away... close to Évora, the authentic Alentejo!

Location:
Casas Caiadas is reachable by a country road. It is located 1 km from Sabugueiro, 15m from Arraiolos, 30m from Évora (Unesco heritage) and 1 hour drive from Lisbon.

The history of Casas Caiadas Project:
A Lisbon couple sets off into a real estate adventure and purchases, with an impulse, a small plot with four ruins in the middle of Alentejo. The location is remote, without paved road access and only accessible in summer, as the river fills and overflows in winter. The early days are passed clearing the land, investigating the site and thinking what to do next. They decide to get help and recover the original buildings, keeping as much as possible of what remains original and unique, and found in arquitect Luís Pereira Miguel the right partner for the project. Casas Caiadas has already been published “Portuguese Restored Houses” and “Arhitext” books; and other specialty media as like “Wallpaper*”, “Sunday Times Travel, “Architectura y Diseño”, Archilovers (best project 2015), “Architizer”, “Archdaily”, “Divisare” and “Attitude”.
