Description

The house:
Casa Carolina is a typical Porto townhouse, in the pedestrian street of Rua de Cedofeita, number 159.

There are in total 8 unique rooms available. The rooms on the front part of the house, do not have balconies, expect one narrow Juliette balcony on the 1st floor. All the rooms on the back side have bigger or smaller balconies available.

All rooms have private bathrooms. The Superior rooms on the 1st floor have soak tubs, the Standaard rooms on the 2nd floor have walk-in showers and lastly the Suite and the Studio on the 3rd floor larger walk-in showers.

Please note there is no air conditioning available in Casa Carolina but there are fans available in each room.

A dramatic staircase dominates the house and there are 73 steps to the top.

The last renovation of the building was finalized in January 2014 and was done accordng to Portuguese Law under the supervision and approval of the Ministry of Culture for the maintance of the original façade and materials.

The house is entirely made of wood. Floors and walls are all isolated but noise from neighbouring rooms are to be expected, due to the properties of wood, a material that known to grow and shrink depending on the weather and temperature.

All windows are made of wood and are reinforced with double glass. Nevertheless, the guillotine windows of the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor do not fully isolate the sound coming from outside.

Location:
Casa Carolina is situated in the city center but not in the middle of night action.
Rua de Cedofeita is an old commercial street, with few stores and a couple of cafes. High street shops in Portugal are open between 9:00 (many open at 10:00) and 19:00.

Rua de Cedofeita is mainly a pedestrian street but its open to traffic from 20:00 pm to 11:00 am the next day.
Access by car to the entrance of Casa Carolina is subject to the scedule mentioned above.

Rua de Cedofeita is a path to the busy center of Portos nightlife but there are no bars in the street.

The nearest metro stations are Lapa and Trindade, equally 900m away from Casa Carolina.
From the bus stop Carmo, some 400m away, the buses 601 and 602 take you directly to the airport.
The take off stop of two of the three lines of Portos iconic streetcar are also 400m away, in front of Carmo church.

Services:
Our rates include breakfast. our continental breakfast buffet, includes 4 different kind of bread, butter croissant, cold meat cuts, cheese, yoghurt, butter and jams, honey, 3 different kinds of cereals, quince or guava paste, 3 to 4 types of seasonal fruit, cows milk, coffee and hot water.
For gluten and/or lactose free breakfast options, other costs apply. A request has to be made at least 24hrs prior to the guests arrival.

Soja milk is available and with no extra charge, should a guest requests upon checking in.

There are no television sets in any of the rooms of Casa Carolina.

There is free Wi-Fi access throughout the house.

There are available blow dryers in the reception. Asks us to bring one to your room.

There is no 24hrs reception in Casa Carolina.
Working hours of the reception are between 8:00 to 20:00. We are happy to assist you past that time, over the phone, text, email, Whatsapp.

Guests can check in into their rooms between 14:00 and 20:00. Late check in possible and with no extra charge only with prior arrangement.
All guests are welcome to arrive to Casa Carolina from 8:00 to store their luggage until their reserved room is ready

Check out is strictly until 12:00. Late check out is not possible.
