Driven by the passion of its highly experienced owner, Alan McCormick, the company is committed to providing excellent customer service for even the most demanding clients, delivering quality work and using some of the latest materials available on the market today.

Alan is pleased to have developed a close working relationship with business partner, Trajano Ferraz, who has extensive construction experience 35years, including four years working in the Middle East where he oversaw large and complex developments and a range of high-specification luxury villas. Trajano and his team created forty apartments, twelve town houses with pools and underground parking totalling 9500sqm of construction - all completed in only fourteen months.

Combining their impressive range of experience, Build-4-U is able to deliver a wide-range of projects to the very highest level of quality and complexity.

ALAN McCormick
Company Director

With a strong background in construction and project management, Alan McCormick is highly experienced, skilled and efficient. He is also capable of working under pressure, meeting deadlines, prioritising tasks, using his own initiative, developing strategies and maximising revenues. Born and educated in England, Alan has lived in the Algarve for almost three decades and is a fluent Portuguese speaker. With outstanding communication and negotiation skills at all levels, he has an impressive proven track record and the ability to go that extra mile to achieve results.

Enjoying a 25-year record of success whilst running his own company, Alan is passionate about overseeing all phases of construction and infrastructure for his numerous clients. Alan has extensive experience of recruiting, retaining and managing crews of up to 60 workers in a variety of construction, demolition and renovation projects. Alan is well-respected throughout the Algarve and has a proven history of on-time, on-budget, high-quality project completions.

Alan enjoys invaluable working relationships with a vast range of experts including architects, engineers and important suppliers.

Company History and financial performance


Build-4-U was well placed to take advantage of the growing demand for villas and other constructions in the tourist area of Portugal and achieved great success throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s, becoming one of the Algarve’s premier construction companies. Profits increased significantly year on year and provided healthy employment for local workers.

Despite a strong client base, a proven track-record of quality constructions and a sound reputation throughout the region, Build-4-U suffered significantly from the impact of the global economic crisis. Out of all the countries affected, Portugal has been greatly impacted and is currently in its third year of recession, enduring the biggest downturn the country has seen since the 1970’s. Although Build-4-U’s reputation and skilled team enabled the company to secure work throughout the crisis (when many other construction companies have folded), the demand for construction work has all but disappeared over the last few years with traditional Expat communities such as the U.K. and Ireland also in recession.

The company is passionate about seeing out the crisis, and is progressively looking for new and exciting opportunities to be able to do what it does best – build high-quality constructions.
