Rotary is a worldwide organization of business, professional and community leaders. Its members, known as Rotarian, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. With the motto "Service above Self" rotary International was founded in 1905 A.D. and in order to carry out this main objective of service Rotary Club of Pokhara Annapurna was established under the efficient leadership of Rtn. Dev Raj Chalise on 1st February, 2006 along with thirty three charter members. On 25th February, 2006 Rotary Club of Pokhara Annapurna was given certificate of affiliation to Rotary International by DG Mr. Sapan Mukharji.
Since its inception, Rotary Club of Pokhara Annapurna has conducting various programs and projects with a vision of service to the community. The club has always emphasized the development and mobilization of its members by enhancing internal management and including moral values and feeling of responsibility. The club has been providing service in the sector of education and health conducting awareness and other programs as per the local resources, means and finance. The club is also jointly working with the local clubs, and institutions and organization in order to widen its reach of community service by providing youth program, management of trash and garbage, distribution of educational materials, free health checkup scholarship distribution etc. Likewise, this club is actively involved in matching grant program with others international Rotary clubs.
Apart from all these activities the club conduct its regular meeting every week on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the conference hall of Hotel Anand. The board meeting of the executive body of conducted once a month.
Previously, the Rotary Club of Nepal was chartered under the aegis of Rotary International India, Kolkata region as district 3290. Later in July 2008, it's was introduced as an independent district, R I District 3292. Rotary Club of Pokhara Annapurna is given number 71857 among the world Rotary clubs. 13 members of this club have been felicitated by PHF and Five Members have been felicitated by MPHF the honor of Rotary International. This club is in circulating among masses through its yearly souvenir "Annapurna Mirror", monthly bulletin and its website, www.rotarypokhara.org. Rotaract Club of Annapurna, Rotaract Club of Hemja, Interact Club of Annapurna BalMandir, Rotary Community Corps, Annapurna, Sarangkot and Inner Wheel Club of Annapurna are family clubs. Rotary Club of Pokhara Annapurna has always been devoted and committed towards the service to humanity and development of the society.
