Beautiful yoga studio with lots of natural light. I took two classes while I stayed in Kathmandu for a week. Both classes were nice. The instruction during the class was precise and the instructors were helpful.
I really loved coming here everyday during my stay in Kathmandu. Only 800 rupees (about $7USD) for a casual/drop-in class, with lots of membership and pack options as well! Had three different teachers across my time and they were all incredible - really knew their stuff, and were able to push me just the right amount. Wish I had this studio at home!
The most beautiful yoga studio I ever know in Thamel, Kathmandu. Clean, bright, and with enough space.
And they have all the necessary props and proper mats provided.
And being a yoga instructor myself, who has been into yoga for years and has visited many yoga studios and talked to their owners in Nepal, I could clearly see and honestly tell everybody that this is my favorite one. Not only the beautiful studio, but also they are the one who doesn’t only care about business like many others do. No matter it is their management or the yoga teachers, there is no doubt about that!
It is one of the few places here for REAL & PROFESSIONAL yoga!
Classes are scheduled for different styles and choices, and different levels too. And Generally a session lasts for 90 mins. So RS800 might seem more, but actually it values!
It is a place where I would always wish I can come back again whenever I am in Thamel for stay!
Took three Hatha classes here whilst visiting. Great studio and fantastic instructors - I’m not as experienced in Hatha but the timing worked best for my travels (early morning) and though it’s gentle- these classes provided deep stretching and mindful movement - exactly what I needed after the hustle of travel, sore limbs from trekking and a as a break from the chaos of this beautiful city. Highly recommend this studio - clean, serene and easy to find!!
per one program is 800rs and one and half hour.
pretty nice and good facilities. and java cafe is very close
I had a drop in class and can really recommend this place.
An excellent ashtanga class with Ellen this morning. This class seems to cater for all levels from those new to Ashtanga, to those who have a lot of experience and wish to 'self practice'. Ellen gives appropriate support, assistance and adjustment of asana throughout and moves effortlessly between leading a class and assisting those doing their own practice. The class is a perfect opportunity to practice with a highly dedicated and experienced teacher and a very welcoming and friendly class as well!
Pranayama has some of the best and some of the worst yoga teachers I've had. The best were in their Patan studio, which is also a magical and wonderful place with such a good vibe to it; the worst was experienced in the Thamel studio, which is quite a nice, spacious studio, without the extra soul that the Patan one has.
But I didn't have an issue with the place: the Ashtanga class I took was already pretty intense, which is fine; but the teacher came to me as I was into an asana I'm not too comfortable with, and without asking if she could adjust me just pushed my limbs further into the pose which resulted in a sharp pain in my knee and ankle, and me swearing in pain. I was then unable to use my knee for the rest of the class.
I would probably not be writing this comment if she had come to me to apologize at the end of the class, or during it, but she just dashed out as soon as the class was over, which I found not only rude and disrespectful but also really not caring and unprofessional... So, over Thamel, prefer their Patan branch, which is a much safer bet - not only quality wise but safety wise.
Felt rejuvenated after a class here. Classes were well directed and yogi instructor provided alternatives for poses that we can’t do. Great place to have some me time.
Terrible. I’m pretty sure the “instructor” wasn’t a real yoga teacher. It was supposed to be an astanga class, and it was subbed to be a dynamic flow class, which was fine. But it wasn’t even yoga and there was no flow. For students who are new or newer to yoga, they may not realize this was a complete BS class, but if you have practiced for while you will feel very very upset.
The instructor only knew a few poses that we had repeat almost the entire class with some bad stretching and shavasana several time IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CLASS. At the end of class, he asked us to count to 50 during shavasana??? Total tourist trap, don’t do it.
The studio is spacious and beautiful. The classes depend on the teacher of course. Drop in is absolutely possible after filling a simple form. 700 rupies for drop in classes includes the mat and cushion 'rental'.
I visited this studio thrice, 2wice in thamel and once in pokhara. This place is absolutely great and the teachers have the best knkwledge about the body than anyone i know. It is a must visit place. I plan to visit it again next month.
I always go to drop in classes in Patan studio when I am home. Absolutely love this place. And thames studio is great too. Just a little noisy for me because of chaotic traffic but still a great place for practice.
I visited the studio twice when I was traveling in Nepal. Triden taught the second class and his knowledge of the body and the proper adjustments exceeded that of any other teacher I have had. It was a lovely class that worked both my body and my mind. Despite the noise of Thamel, he carries a calming voice which helps you to focus. Highly recommended!
good new place near boudha, with excellent classes of ashtanga and more more more - just what you need to continue practice far from home
I highly recommend yoga classes at Pranamaya! I have been living in Kahmandu for a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed yoga classes. Roshani is a fabulous teacher and I have definitely noticed a difference in my core strength, balance and flexibility. It really helps with the chaos of Kathmandu to have a space like Pranamaya to relax and unwind. I just went on a yoga retreat at Shivapuri Heights and it was an excellent day! Thankyou Pranamaya :)
