The place is nicely organized. The staffs are friendly you can ask them for directions. One of the staff even lead me to washroom by himself. Hospital is well equipped with the instrument and doctors are friendly as well. New registration take only Rs. 100.

Nepal eye hospital is the first hospital in Nepal dedicated to eye care service established in the year 1973. Before the establishment of this historical hospital, eye service was available at Bir Hospital as government owned general hospital with the few beds provided by the Government of Nepal. Realizing the urgency to make a separate eye hospital, Nepal Eye Hospital was legally established in March 1973 with active initiation of Dr. Ram Prasad Pokharel the icon ophthalmologist and other like-minded distinguished personalities. Since its establishment the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Health and Population has been continually providing financial assistance to the hospital and other staffs including ophthalmologists once working at the Ophthalmology department of the Bir Hospital has been transferred to the Hospital, hence referring Nepal Eye Hospital as the only government authorized eye hospital in the country.

Nepal eye hospital has been providing eye care service since last four decades. For about two decades, it was the only eye hospital in Nepal bearing the responsibility to provide eye care service for about 20 million people of the nation. The hospital was started with an objective of providing the best possible comprehensive eye-care services in the region, by most economical methods, with most modern & state of the art technology directed towards prevention, diagnosis and treatment, to all sections of society irrespective of caste, creed or economic considerations. The other objective being training, the hospital has been providing training in producing its own ophthalmic manpower in the country. As a pioneer institution in the field of eye care service in the country, Nepal Eye Hospital is being involved in the area of scientific research utilizing own resources to its maximum extent.
