I was here in 1996 for the big avalanche. The owner saved my life by advising us not to climb higher due to the unexpected and heavy snow. That night the next village was hit and 26 people in a Japanese climbing party died. I stayed here for a few days until it was obvious that we had to walk out which we did overnight. A lovely family and a great location. I grew partial to Ghurka Rum as well. A well earned 5 stars.

Good food and fast WiFi (if you buy or have an Everest internet card) the lodge is comfortable, cold when we stayed in the bedrooms in November. Toilets were reasonable and generally as expected.
