Authentic Nepalese hotel. Very traditional. Location is right in the heart of Thamel. Close to all the action. Only downfall is no TV. Which for me is pretty much a necessary. Breakfast is average. Staff very friendly.

Legacy, hospitality and true Nepali-ness packed into a quiet, pleasant property only a stone's throw away from the bustling tourist district of Kathmandu.

Great location, extremely kind and caring staff. Overall highly recommendable, but forget luxury: eco-solutions are well made but you need to accustom... Nevertheless, in Kathmandu standards, an excellent choice. I will return!

Kantipur Temple House is located in the tourist district of Thamel, and although it is within walking distance from the hustle and bustle, it is far enough away to escape the noise of the busy city. The courtyard is a delightful place to sit and have breakfast. The restaurant serves delicious local dishes and has a few "western" items on the menu to cater for all tastes. The rooms are lovely with extremely comfy beds (not something that is easy to find in Nepal). The staff are delightful and even pop a hot water bottle in your bed on cold nights.

The eco-friendly Kantipur Temple House offers a quiet oasis amidst Kathmandu’s historic treasures. It features a rooftop garden overlooking the ancient Swayambhunath Temple. Wi-Fi is free in public areas.
Rooms feature red brick walls and handmade wooden furniture. Each room has a fan and a sitting area, and comes with a private bathroom.
Kantipur House offers tour arrangements and ticketing services. After visiting Kathmandu’s cultural highlights, guests can relax on the grounds or join a yogaor meditation class.
The restaurant features classic Nepalese décor and offers outdoor dining in the rooftop garden. It serves international specialties made from organic ingredients.
Kantipur Temple House is a less than a 5-minute walk from Old Durbar Square and downtown Thamel. Tribhuvan International Airport is a 15-minute drive away.
Thamel is a great choice for travelers interested in shopping, food and hiking.
This is our guests' favorite part of Kathmandu, according to independent reviews.
This property is in one of the best-rated locations in Kathmandu! Guests love it compared to other properties nearby.
Couples in particular like the location – they rated it 9.2 for a two-person trip.
Adding 3.5% Extra on cards payment I know banks in Nepal charge 3.5% Additional charges but this is not fair to ask from the guest as it is not a guest house so I ran to ATM & paid cash.
Nice location beautiful design of the traditional authentic Newari style

Kantipur temple house is a quiet, soothing respite in the middle of hectic Kathmandu. They took very good care of us. The food was tasty and the service was stellar.

Beautiful temple style house. We were lucky to be upgraded and our room was beautiful, serine with a seating area overlooking the courtyard and good size bathroom.
The room stayed lovely and cool which I guess helps in the heat of summer but they warm you up with a heated blanket and hot water bottles in the winter months.
Great location and we found the restaurant did a great thali set menu.

A place of quiet and peace in the hectic centre of Kathmandu very close toThamel and on an easy walking distance from the main sights in Durbar square. The decoration and feel of the place looks old and authentic but (luckily) it is a relatively new building with all the facilities that come with that. The rooms that have a view on the inner courtyards are the most quiet and comfortable ones. The grounds are also green and in front of the hotel there is a nice terrace to enjoy the sun. You can join a yoga session every morning from 8 o'clock on the lawn. The breakfast buffet is nice and you can ask for all styles of eggs on top of that. The staff is very helpfull and nice: we enjoyed our stay! Clean and friendly.

Charming oasis of a hotel built less than 20 years ago to resemble a Nepali Temple. Excellent craftsmanship to recreate the atmosphere of a historic building yet with modern conveniences. The moto of the staff is "this is your home" and you are made to feel that way. Hotel would be rated 3* Depending on the season you visit the major drawback is lack of a/c.

The best hotel option in Thamel (a backpackers heaven in Kathmandu). Different from all other options in this part of the town because of the traditional Nepalese hospitality on offer. Friendly staff and nice, comfortable and clean rooms. Try their aloo sandek, a deliciously spicy local potato preparation.

We visited this Hotel when we suddenly sighted it during our walks in Thamel Kathmandu on our Nepal visit in September 2016. It's difficult to imagine such greenery open space & quiet in busy bustling Thamel. Even though it was our last day in Kathmandu, & we were pressed for time, the architecture & serenity of this Hotel attracted us to go inside & see Kanitpur Temple House. The design & decor of the rooms, corridors, restaurant, reception & open spaces conveyed serenity, elegance brightness & cheer - difficult combination. Though we didn't get the opportunity to stay here, as it was a surprise discovery during our walks, I got the feeling that we would have been delighted to stay here.
