Baitadi district is at a distance of 913 kilometers from Kathmandu. Baitadi Khalanga (Gadi) is the district headquarters of the district. There is a small park dedicated to martyr Dasarath Chand. The commercial activity is minimal. Pithoragarh, which is about 7 kilometers west across the India border, is an important trade outlet for some of the far western districts.
