Lovely place to visit. Not so far from cities like Dharan and Itahari. Beautiful Saptakoshi river green mountain and beautiful temple just near by the river. I enjoyed a lot visiting this place twice with my friends and wife. Boat services also available for water lovers but I haven't tried it myself yet though.

Barahachhetra is a Hindu pilgrimage sites in Barahakshetra Municipality of Sunsari District of Province No. 1 of Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 8602 people living in 1695 individual households. Among 4 chhetra in Hindu mythology 2 falls in India and 2 in Nepal that is Kurukshetra & Dharmachhetra in India and Barahachhetra & Muktinath or Muktichhetra in Nepal.
Lord Vishnu, by taking the incarnation of Varaha or Baraha protected the earth from being submerged into Patala (underworld) with his long tusk. Then the Lord sat with his wife Laxmi at the bank of Koshi River and the lap of Himalayas and hills. So, the place bore its name after that event. There is a big and beautiful image of the Baraha incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
In every 12 year kumbha mela is organizing since 2058 B.S. in Chataradham. The second kumbha mela was held in 2070 B.S. It is of One month. This time more than 6 lakhs people visited.
We can reach there easily via Dharan or Via Itahari.

One of the most prominent temple of lord Bishnu. Baraha one of the avatar of lord Bishnu is worshipped here. You can get access to here through roadway from chatara. You can hire a taxi or travel through local bus. There is a motor boat access through waterways too. It is very pleasant place in bank of Saptakoshi River. You can find good hotels and lodges here.

one of the holy places for hindu pilgrims and is considered a temple for Baraha avatar of Lord Bishnu. The temple is on the bank of Saptakoshi river in Sunsari district and almost even borders Dhankuta district.

A temple is the centre of
religious activities of the Hindus. There is all
the time a crowded place and bell starts
ringing from early morning as the priests start
chanting of mantras as the sun rise.

It's Hindus holy place. After worship you can enjoy Natural scenes. Natural scene is very beautiful. You can forget your all tensions. Boating is available. You can enjoy fishing; bathing; but be careful of currents. Don't go in middle of river. Good place for short trekking as well.
The roads are rocky; I suggest you to use 4 wheel drive vehicles only. Public transport is available from Dharan city.
