Though it is considered to be one of the largest and best hospitals in Nepal, services here are no different than any other large government run hospitals. Carelessness of personnel towards the patients can easily be noticed.
Nevertheless, this hospital has played an important role in putting Dharan as a significant place in the map of Nepal. Medical students from this institution are renowned for their excellence, worldwide. And not to be forgotten, this hospital is the sole reason, that thousands of people are able to manage their livelihood.

One of the best medical institute of Nepal providing medical services and medical education in the eastern region of Nepal.
B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, established in 1993 and upgraded to a university in 1998, is an autonomous health sciences university. Its goal is to meet the health needs of the eastern region of Nepal at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. BPKIHS is a self-governing body.
BPKIHS is one of the largest projects implemented through Indo-Nepal co-operation. The university is named after the late B.P. Koirala, a former Prime Minister of Nepal.
BPKIHS took over the management of the 150-bedded Public hospital in 1993, which called Eastern Regional Hospital. With the new hospital complex, the university raised the strength of beds to 700 with added facilities like CCU, ICU, VVIP Critical Care area and Observational beds. MRI, CT-scan, emergency laboratory, C-arm and mobile x-ray facilities, sterilization section, and operation theatres with recovery room facilities are available in the Hospital.

It's a shame that BPKHS is tarnished with venal folks, but still holds as one of the best institutes/hospital of Nepal. I don't know about the institution and their way of teaching, but the faculty members whose mouth are filled with beetle nuts, teeth tainted with tobacco and it's derivatives - are bound to be facetiously unprofessional. The whole faculty and it's system is wired with Nepotism and web of politics under the eyes of government.

I'll share my anecdote here, my buddy and I graduated from prestigious college. We gave up everything abroad to return and to serve this country. We were summoned for an interview after applying in an open position. The whole scene was absolute ridiculous. The rector Mr. Uncle Sam Shrestha-with his inflated ego-was questioning us: if we knew who the rector here was? To my defense, when I said, "I was expecting questions related to my work and profession!" I immediately piqued them with my curtness.
I knew, I wouldn't stand a chance with my own friend for a single seat competition, but later we found that the position was already reserved for someone near to Uncle Sam and his buddies. Even after, we were expecting replies. To my dismay, we got- no e-mails; no calls; no nothing. You're valueless to them soon they take your money for registration, and rule forced obligated interview.

If only they could be more professional in their job of hiring a deserving candidate rather than boot licking and lining their geniality. This institute would be one of the best in South-Asia. Sadly few crooked folks had power to run the entire prathistan and that's what it's gonna be for the years to come.

I won't comment about teaching qualities and Hospital professionalism, but the campus is vast, clean and well maintained.
Hostels are in good condition. Roads are quite good.
Hospital serves Dharan and it's near by places.
Spread across 700 acres it's one of important part of Dharan.
