World Breeding BV breeds, develops, produces and place high performance lily varieties in the market. The assortment consists of Orientals, OT's, LA's Pot Asiatics and Longiflorums and expands annually.
In 1992, the lily improvement activities of World Flower B.V. and World Bulbs B.V.B.A. merged into one company, World Breeding B.V.
To date, many breeds have conquered their niche in the market, such as Crystal Blanca, Royal Sunset, Royal Trinity, Yelloween, White Elegance and White Heaven.
In addition to cross-fertilizing lily groups, World Breeding B.V.’s challenge is to combine parents from the various groups as well.
The resulting products appear in a new shape and colour. Special attention is required to finding disease resistance.
Before a potential breed is grown, it is extensively tested; the first few years in-house. In this phase, growing, blooming and force properties are monitored, as well as vase life and bulb keeping on ice for long-term storage. Many selections do not make it throughout this process. In subsequent years, the breeds that are kept are tested both domestically and abroad. When a breed meets the criteria, it will be brought to market.
