We came in for one of the Hotel's sister hotels but they told us they would give us a free upgrade to a nicer room at Hotel Vondel.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was large with a bed, a couch, a chair, a desk, an enormous bathtub / shower, and a double vanity.
It was also very tastefully decorated in a modern style. Location is fantastic in the middle of it all.
There was only one downside: instead of a queen bed, we had two twins pushed together, each with their own mattress topper, resulting in occasionally dipping into the middle of the bed. Odd! But overall fantastic.
My first choice for hotels in Amsterdam. Stayed here a few times with the wife. Location is prime with major attractions a stone throw away. Security is pretty good. Elevators are available, thank God. If you can, get the room with the Jacuzzi, worth the extra price.
This place was great. The location is fantastic, 5 minutes from museumplein and only 10-15 min walk to Dam Square. Great amenities, amazing customer service. Our room was in the basement, but even so, it was quiet and had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.
We stayed at the Hotel Vondel for four nights and it was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable, the location was excellent (close to everything!) and the front desk staff were amazing. In fact, I'm only writing a review so I can publicly compliment them: the young woman that checked us in (early, I should add) spent about 15 minutes showing us interesting places on the map, giving personalized recommendations (about where to eat and NOT eat, good places for drinks, etc.) and provided information about sight-seeing opportunities that we wouldn't have thought on our own. After being awake for 30+ hours, her kindness and help were much appreciated!
Disappointed with conditions. Bathroom was extremely small. Window didn't close . Complimentary tea& coffee hasn't been checked basicly. We had to use our own coffee. Night time mosquitoes didn't let us sleep. Staff& location were good.
Stayed in a spacious apartment suite here. Furnishing was a little meh but acceptable. Service was good. Location is excellent.
Weekend away with friends in Amsterdam, hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the decor in the restaurant/bar is quirky and modern with a relaxing feel, we had heard good things about the outside garden however it was not open during our stay. The only downside is that the room we stayed in was below reception and therefore was very noisy from above, the rooms themselves however were modern, clean and the bed was super comfortable and I shall quote that the pillows were "phwoarr". Also to note, the hotel accommodated our request to have rooms near to each other. We were offered sequential rooms! Overall a nearly perfect stay, and would definitely stay again.
Very clean and comfortable rooms, and great location close for the entrance to the old town. Stayed in a subterranean room which was spacious and well provisioned with utilities and surprisingly bright!
Only downside was that we could hear movement in the restaurant and bar above (the bar was also very stylish and well stocked!)
Staff very helpful, friendly and accommodating - managed to give us three rooms next to each other.
Would happily stay here again, albeit in a room above ground!
Shower settings were a bit weird. They sent over 2 people to fix it but they didn't speak English/Dutch that well. Other than that a nice place in the center of Amsterdam.
Great location to museums and city center, yet its not in a noisy area. Close but not in the loud area :) Short walk to all the 'must-do' lists. Staff was very helpful and truthful about what to do in the area. Bed was very comfy. Room was small but very charming :)
The hotel and room were nicely decorated. I was in room 132 which had several issues. The toilet area in the bathroom was laughably small. The toilet was wedged between the wall and the shower wall, and there may have been 4 inches gap on either side. The drains were very slow and there was a musty sewer smell in the room. There was an LCD TV, but it was only 15" at best. The room was in the very corner of the hotel next to an active construction zone. Loud construction started promptly at 8am. I may have received a subpar room due to getting a very cheap price on hotwire. Front desk staff were very nice and cheery though. Hotel was full, so no opportunity for a different room and we were only staying one night.
Nice hotel, comfortable and good location. Check in was easy and reception staff are friendly. Room was a good space but the shower was poor. Decorating was happening whilst we were there so it should be looking fresh.
To be honest I don't understand that this hotel has 4 stars. I think its an average hotel. Very small rooms, outdated. Bed is old, you really can feel where all the people have slept. We came at 10:30 after a long flight but had to wait untill 3:00 pm. Did not offer us a drink. Had to walk 5 hours in the cold.
Great location, walking distance to Amsterdam centre. Friendly staff. Was offered an upgrade for small fee at check-in. Totally with it! Room was very spacious with King bed and shower + bathtub. Will stay again.
