German friends on a visit to Namibia came back and told me that they were shocked when they saw this extremely ugly building. According to them there used to be a beautiful statue in its place. So I had a look on the Internet and I must agree, could the people in power not get the best architects to design a building which would be more representative of Africa? Something which would "sit" better and be "softer" on the eye? This really looks out of place and grotesque on pictures. I have been in Russia to visit my friends there and this building look like a typical Communist structure from the 1960's
Cool murals and pictures about Namibia's struggle for independence. Fancy restaurant on the top floor where one has a beautiful view of almost the whole of Windhoek
What a place to eat traditional and contemporary food. The view one can't find words for the pictures.
Great views of Windhoek. Disappointing with the general cleanliness and maintenance. The service at the restaurant needs to be better.
Wonderfully set out, but it lacks so much information. Sculptures are beautiful as well as all other art work. Best to read up beforehand.
Nice, friendly waitresses. Beautiful view over Windhoek. Balconies in three directions.
Wow! The place is very clean, and the artifacts inside shows a rich Namibian history. The restaurant inside is very cozy and their service is great. Would definitely visit this place again soon. Highly recommended!
This building is a library and memoir for Namibian history. I would recommend it to everyone who exists within the borders of Namibia.
The restaurant on the top floor is fly, pun intended.
Great historical museum if you want to know the Namibian liberation struggle
A beautiful landmark in the Namibian capital city. 3 floors of exhibitions using painting, models and sculptures illustrating the struggle to independence. There is a restaurant on the 4 floor with beautiful views of the city.
Great view if the city...day or night
It's a pretty cool museum. 3 floors of exhibitions and a restaurant on the 4th floor. Get taken on a journey through Namibia's fight for Independence and learn the history of the people who fought to make it The Land of the Brave. Then get a great view of the city from the restaurant and maybe get something to eat too.
And if that didn't entice you perhaps the free admission will.
Great Museum great 360! view but subpar restaurant
Interesting artefacts and history
Interesting building and a nice, informative museum inside. Entrance is free!
Nice to know about Namibias History
The museum is free to visit and has some amazingly executed artwork and frescos. Alone they are incredibly powerful.
The historical photos are interesting but the whole thing needs some commentary to allow it to make sense. As an outsider unfamiliar with the details of the independence struggle I needed some extra plaques to tell the story and link what I was seeing to my limited knowledge.
We took the lift up to the restaurant on the top floor. The view looked amazing, but the restaurant looked too pricey for a quick lunch break so we didn't hang around.
Interesting and for free! They are supposed to open a restaurant with great view to the city inside the building... Waiting for it...
