We are operated by the YDM program of Okahandja. YDM is a Youth Discipleship and Mentoring program dreamed up and put into place by Tony and Catherine Duran, native Southern Californians who felt God call them to Namibia over 3 years ago. YDM is designed to provide a place of hope to Namibian youth who seek a brighter future. The faith-based program offers vocational skills training for those determined to succeed. This program is supported by various community leaders, businesses, churches, schools, as well as individuals locally and abroad.
It is a 10 week program offering classroom and hands-on practical experience. The practical mentoring covers basic English and math skills, which are improved through tutoring and classroom time. Time management and personal discipline is stressed to ensure successful learning and improve dependability and moral character. Vocational experience includes basic guest relations, restaurant, and small business skills, as well as basic kitchen and cooking skills, money tending, budgeting, and table skills. The spiritual training aspect of the program includes daily devotions and Bible studies.
