An open-air living museum, undoubtely the best place to experience the genuine Damara culture, way of life and traditions. Definitely a must see. Very informed and well prepared guides, many activities available. Amazing songs and dances at the end of a very interesting visit. Traditional, original handicrafts for sale on site too.
I am not exactly sure, but it looks decent and very authentic. It's very much worth a visit. The entry fee itself is not that much, but you are kind of expected to by some crafts. The crafts seem nice, although I am not sure if they are made by the same people who run the museum.
Excellent!!! Both informative and entertaining, while not being demeaning to the participants or observers.
Really great experience. Had a great time there.
Interesting place. Great to learn the way of life of the Damara people. They make it very entertaining and perform a traditional dance for you.
Great experience though cultures seem to be mixed regarding what's regarded as Damara or originates from the San. But great introduction into the general overall cultures in Namibia
Damara Living Museum is run by the local community to show and exhibit the indigeneous crafts, rituals, and way of life. You can buy the tickets at the entrance either to be inside the compound or include the hunting demonstration. The entrance is a pile of large reddish stones that leads you to the inside areas. At the end of the tour, you will experience the lively group performance (singing, dancing). All explanations are in English. It is wonderful to support the locals!
This small museum was a great way to learn about the damara culture. The guide showed us how they made clothes, started fires, and taught us about herbal medicines. The tour ended with a traditional song and dance. After the tour we were able to buy some locally made crafts.
