Improved Midwifery Care Access Initiative (IMCAI) is a local non-governmental organization that aims at uplifting the well-being of all child bearing women, unborn children, newborns and their families in rural communities in Malawi by collaborating with Ministry of Health through district hospitals, health centers and relevant stakeholders through advocacy, networking and outreach.
IMCAI’s goal is to provide evidence-based quality midwifery care to the rural communities to help to reduce maternal and neonatal death.
Copied from UNFPA Malawi,
Fifty years ago, the United Nations International Conference on Human Rights resolved in the Proclamation of Teheran of 13 May 1968: “Parents have a basic human right to determine freely and responsibly the number and the spacing of their children.” Introducing a resolution on family planning that was reflected in the Proclamation, the delegate who coordinated negotiations on the resolution declared that it, “says 'yes' to planning by the family and 'no' to planning for the family." Family planning was, therefore, a human right for couples to exercise, not “population control” to be imposed by the State. World Population Day 2018 -11th July - commemorates this landmark agreement.
Happening now. Come and join No Woman Should Die Giving Birth and help reduce maternal deaths. Blood donation, cervical cancer screening, BP Checks, health education among other services you will find
No woman should die in pregnancy and childbirth
#DidYouKnow Malawi needs at least 120, 000 units of whole blood to adequately meet the national annual demand. Unfortunately, Malawi Blood Transfusion Services manages to collect only about 60, 000 units annually leaving a 50% shortfall. And out of the collected blood, 60% of the blood is used in the Maternity department to save lives of mothers and babies.
This is why we are supporting No Woman Should Die Giving Birth. #DonateBlood #SaveMothers Dan Kawaye
