The Thinnai organic farm consists of an area of almost ten acres of land in Jaffna, where, its vegetables are grown entirely without the use of any chemical pesticides and fertilizers. It is purely organic and uses entirely natural materials and methods for its crops.
With rich red soil that Jaffna is well known for nurturing a variety of fruit and lush green vegetables, The Thinnai Organic Farm truly epitomizes the phrase 'In Harmony with Nature.' It is just 15 minutes away from The Thinnai (www.thethinnai.com), an All-Suite Boutique Hotel for which it supplies fresh produce daily for its Guests for a truly farm to plate experience. The hotel’s guests continuously visit the farm and their experiences can be found online.
The Thinnai Organic Farm feels that the ecology of our precious planet Earth is rapidly being eroded due to large scale chemical based farming. Furthermore, to counter this erosion it believes that an awareness must be created of the benefits to health and well-being of farms such as ours.
It is this erosion of our precious ecology that has motivated us to establish two firm philosophies. We firmly believe that our precious environment must be protected. Secondly we believe that the local community must be encouraged and supported. To ensure these philosophies are adhered to, the farm is fully managed by the hotel. Simply put the hotel does not buy organic produce from outside.
The Thinnai organic farm is pleased to announce that it will release limited quantities of produce daily for discerning fans who share our concerns about the ecology. Our Farm will daily post the expected harvest for which fans could place an order with us. The Farm will thereafter harvest and transport it to Colombo the same day for delivery within the shortest time possible to our fans. Due to high demand orders for the farm’s fresh vegetables will be taken on a first comes first served basis.
