  For the past 20 years, The Nature Fun Ranch in Barbados has been working to support at-risk youths through mentorship, skills training and development in animal rearing, ranching agriculture and entrepreneurship. There are currently 40 youngsters engaged at the center. The Sandals Foundation has committed to assist with much-needed upgrades of the facility including the youth accommodation and kitchen area, construction of basic horse stables and completion of a small gift shop to be used for entrepreneurship training.   Engaging students in environmental protection is the way to go to safeguard our future! Our Sandals ambassadors from Sandals Whitehouse and the Whitehouse Marine Sanctuary visited the Ferris Primary and Kings Primary Schools last week to educate students on how to properly separate and dispose of their garbage.   Educators in Nassau and Exuma are this week participating in the annual Character Day Teacher Training Workshop, giving them the tools to offer character education to students across The Bahamas.   Thank you to our amazing #GreatShape volunteers who are still in Grenada for the second week of our free 1000 Smiles Dental Clinic. The clinics are operating at the Anglican Church Pastoral Centre in Gouyave and at the Westerhall Secondary School, in the parish of St. David. One major part of our clinics is the education of adults and children on the proper ways to care for their teeth.   Our 42 "Care for Kids" scholarship recipients are excited and ready for the new school year but before they go off, they are spending the last of their summer break doing some good around their communities. Our scholarship recipients from the Ocho Rios region spent some time over the weekend bringing joy to the residents of the Ocho Rios Infirmary.   It is that time of year when Elk and Staghorn corals spawn, sending their eggs into the currents of the sea to attach onto other reefs and grow more coral in new locations. Sandals Foundation has established 4 coral nurseries and planted over 4000 pieces of Elk and staghorn corals which will be spawning and helping to populate more areas with new corals. This phenomenon creates an underwater world with billions of colorful flakes cascading in white, yellow, red and orange.   The community of Glengoffe in St. Catherine, Jamaica has a long a rich history in the straw craft industry. However, over the years, participation in the tradition that was once the major source of employment for residents of the community has dwindled.
