The Jamaica national Pantomime began in 1941 with the first production "Jack and the Beanstalk". At that time it was mostly English expats involved. By the mid 40s Ranny Williams and Louise Bennett got involved making it a more Jamaican experience. Over the years, well known Jamaican actors like Leonie Forbes, Oliver Samuels, Volier Johnson, Charles Hyatt, Glen Campbell, Michael Nicholson have all performed in Pantomimes. Today, the Pantomime Company is the backbone group of actors and those who are successful through an audition process, are the performers in the longest running theatrical production company in Jamaica.
