Best ice cream ever. My opinion of course. The gardens was just gorgeous. Love everything about it. One of my favorite place in Jamaica.
Enjoyed going through the little shops and nice selections for ice cream flavors. Ice cream was not as creamy as I would have liked. It was a bit icy. Flavor was nice and rich. We tried strawberry cheesecake, Devon stout and Bordeaux cherry.
It's Clean, centrally located, OK parking accessible, good food and ice cream, clean restrooms and on site security. It's a good place for a picnic or outdoor party. The lawn is well kept and the environment offers many chances for interacting with new and different people. You can even take your date there, it public but romantic. Also there is the great house which offers a chance for you to learn something. All and all it a good place to spend a couple of hours.
Very good place to go for shopping for craft items and other things during the day, and top it off with ice cream and pastry. During the night till closing time - 10:00 pm, it's a good place to sit with yours and stare at each other and listen to each other's sweet talks. Yes it is a romantic place during this time. You sit on the benches provided or the grass below, whichever you prefer - the rest comes naturally. The highlight of the place is the newly expanded ice cream parlor which can now manage the crowd seeking their favorite flavors. That being said, the children are always excited for this opportunity. The restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
Cash and Carry are accepted. Some of the shops include ice cream parlor, chocolate shop, craft stores, restaurants, bakery, among others. It also attracts a trendy crowd.
Service and ice cream were great as per usual 😊... My friend found something that looked like a bug in her ice cream and the employee was very apologetic and did not hesitate to give her a new one... I love what they have done to the place, as well as the new line system... It seemed as if we were going to wait for our ice cream for eternity, but surprisingly the staff was quick, friendly and efficient... My friends and I enjoyed our little ice cream date... 😊🤗... Great place to take the kids or to go just to chill and enjoy a cozy evening out.
Well! I must say Devon House is my home. I have eaten every flavors, but give me the Coconut any day of the week. It's a Joy for me to get a double scoop, sit and enjoy it like it's gonna take flight. Then get a single scoop for the ride to my other home.
The service is nice, I always leave impressed.
A good place to hang out and chill with friends and the family especially with the large lawn space. Devon House Ice Cream is a major attraction for this location so you can always expect a crowd by the Devon House Ice Cream shop. More shops are opening there, offering more reasons to visit outside of the ice cream and just a place for picnicking. Parking at times can be a challenge.
This place has maintained its reputation as one of the traditional must stops in Kingston. The grounds are nice and safe and the food is legendary. If you're a visiting the island and you happen to stop by this place you should try the authentic Devon House ice cream, patties from the Brick Oven, chocolate from Chocolate Dreams and visit the many other shops to pick up stuff like clothing, jewelry and craft items to remind you of your time in Jamaica.
The location where the ice cream is sold now on the lawn is really efficient even if the line seems a bit long. The service is professional and courteous. The Devon house bakery has a great selection of patties, pastries and cakes including several cheesecake varieties. Apart from the culinary treats the great house has a rich historical past with guided tours. The landscape is lush and offers several areas that are nice and cool where you can roll out a blanket and lose a few hours.
Devon House is a nice place to just go to chill, whether enjoying some ice cream, pastries or dining in. There are grass areas and benches to relax on (bring a blanket). There are also shops to purchase craft items, coffee and for those with a sweet tooth, chocolate. Periodic tours of the great house are allowed but call ahead to confirm dates and time.
Beautiful historic property. Fun and relaxing place with something for everyone. Restaurants, bakery, shopping, chocolates, ice cream or just a green space to have fun as a couple or with the kids.
Rich historical location. Superb food and dining selections. Great place to take the family on a weekend for iced-cream or just lyming. I have been going here from a child and even with the upgrades and changes it hasn't lost its historical touch and appeal.
See you there!
Beautiful great house, with well informed guides. Every question I asked had an informative answer, our guide didn't rush at all and some of the other tour groups caught up and passed us. The history of the building is wonderful and inspiring. Very happy that there is a price for locals so they can enjoy some of their history. Had a famous Devon House patty - curry goat, I'm usually a pescitarian but was happy to stray and was well worth it. Included in the price of the tour was a single scoop of ice cream which was the equivalent to about 2 or 3 scoops in the U.K. Visited the grounds 3 times in the month I was in Jamaica as it's a lovely spot to get away from the bustle of downtown. Will visit again.
Wonderful tour of the house! So much history, so much to learn. The house is VERY well maintained and some it is original. Well manicured lawns and the food at the Brick Oven is to die for! The ice cream is delish and reasonably priced. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.
Had great pizza at Le Pizzeria at Devon House! Lots of vegetarian options. And the bartender mixes great cocktails. Here's a pic of my margarita! I love that you can choose to dine outdoors. Eating under the stars is lovely. I'm definitely going back!
It's a great place. Quiet. A nice place to hang out with family or take out on a date. Great for school excursions as well. The grounds are also very beautiful and well kept. Let's not forget the ice-scream!!
A place with lots of history but nicely converted to provide the public with enjoyment. Great dining options and famous Devon House Patty. Occasionally they offer additional entertainment like dance classes, flee market, Art fair and so on. Lovely place to escape your daily routine both day and night.
No matter the crowd Devon House staff are always efficient, courteous and friendly. The new location towards the front lawn is spacious and comfortable, I am amazed how quickly they process orders for the world's best ice cream, you'll be in and out in 20 minutes or less. Great selections and choices of flavors too.
It was a wonderful evening. The ambience was great. It was not overcrowded nor too noisy but allowed for intimate time and great conversation... Truly pleased with the evening.... Service was good too.
I love Devon House ice cream.. Its the islands best Ice cream. Its family friendly.. Great place for couples and children alike. If you go on a Sunday evening they have great fun and activities for families especially children..
Devon House is such a calm and relaxing place to be at. You can bring your family and have a picnic or couples can go and enjoy some of the best ice cream that is being offered in the world! With its historical sentiments still intact, it creates the ambiance of the 18-1900's and can be quote daunting at night. It's awesome there! Plus they have a bakery there that serves the yummiest of pastries. #yum
The house is beautiful to tour and the premises is well maintained. As for the ice scream shop, they move rather slow even after the expansion and do not usually update their flavours in store so that customers can make better decisions. They also don't have any kiddies serving which is annoying. It's a lovely place to take a group of children or couples to eat at the pizzeria, Mediterranean restaurant, cake shop as well as gift stores. The ice scream shop is main reason for giving a 3. Otherwise it's a great 5.
Lots of history here in this house and Jamaica in 1818. Tors are offered Monday through Friday until 4:30 PM. I arrived at five, so I didn't get a chance to take the tour, but did get a chance to View the beautiful grounds. This is the perfect spot for a quiet romantic picnic fun day with the family... lots of open space for small children to run around. The souvenir shops were rather inexpensive so I bought several things. Also make sure you get some of the famous ice cream and something from the bakery.
I Kept hearing so much about the bakery at Devon House that I just had to come back again the next day to try it. I came in for breakfast on my way to Port Royal. At 10 am most of the other shops weren't open yet but the bakery was. I got the fish, curry goat, and beef patties. My absolute favorite was the curry goat. The pastry was fresh, flaky and buttery. The filling was generous and incredibly flavorful....and it was piping hot! I also had the sorrel drink which was too sweet for my husband, but I loved it!
A nice romantic location in the heart of Kingston to sit and relax with friends or family. Also the home of the world famous Devon house ice cream and a Jamaican heritage site. Visitors are an eclectic mix of location and foreign. Nice shops to get food, chocolate, souvenirsand other concessionaires.
Lovely lunch of Jamaican patties at the Devon House Bakery. Choice of chicken, beef, lobster and a few others. Lots of pastries on offer as well. All surrounded by other shops and beautiful gardens.
Best Ice Cream in Jamaica no doubt! My favorite flavor is the Rum &Raisin. There's good ambiance. They also have pastry stores and restaurants on site.
