Be very careful when booking with Classique. They offered meet and greet from the airport, but kept us waiting at the airport in the heat for an hour before coming to get us. Then once at their office, they insisted we paid for their own insurance claiming that any of the credit cards I was offering to pay with (Amex, VISA) would not cover insurance, $30 extra per day!. No paperwork was given for this 'extra' insurance. On the day of return of the car, they were again 45 minutes late opening up the office. The car we were given as the rental car was not the small car that we had asked for but an estate covered in dents, and a torn drivers seat.
So many times I've been stood up by car rental companies when I book early for the busy season. But not with Classique. When I arrived my car was literally hidden in the back and was one of the few cars remaining on the lot. The car was in excellent condition. The employees are very friendly and professional, especially the older gentleman that picked me up at the airport who told me stories. Also, when I got there I thought my credit card was covered but it was not, so I had to pay the fees out of pocket and that restricted what I had left for the deposit but the manager worked with me and lowered the deposit. I must say, this has been my most pleasant experience at a car rental agency.
We rented the car to drive to Kingston and back . They had no km limits. Booked online, nice n easy pickup from airport n a shuttle back was inluded. Very friendly staff , happy to let us use their phone n wifi to call our hotel n arrange a cab. Cars were ok, but they aren't too picky with scratches etc.
I recently rented a car from these people for 13 days; in addition to the cost of the car, they put a hold on my card for us 500.00. Once I returned the car, it was inspected by the agent and signed off as satisfactory. I was then told that by the end of day the 500.00 hold will be released. 4 days later I called back to inquire about my funds, the manager became very angry and hang up the phone on me. They simply refused to give back the 500.00. I had to call my bank and filed a claim. After an investigation the bank found that the charges were fraudulent and gave me back the 500.00. After talking with the bank, I learned that usually if the merchant refused to give back the funds, the banks will go ahead and refund there customers anyway without putting up a fight. And that's what's giving these guys the balls to do what they are doing. It's a SCAM! My recommendation is not to stay away from Classique Car Rental, my recommendations is that everyone needs to stay away from all local car rental companies. The are all a bunch of lunatics who do not know how to run a business. Stick with Enterprise Car Rental, or other international outfits. Find out what are the requirements and planned ahead. If you you have similar complaints, contact the Jamaica Tourist Board.
We wanted to rent a car for just one day and this guys were the only ones that worked with us to make it happen. All others refused to take our money unless it was at least 2 or 3 days. Topped it off with opening extra early so we could return the car and drove us to our next destination afterwards. Great customer service, competitive prices and a local company. Definitely recommend!
