The Virtual Museum of 'Images' and 'Sounds', financially supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India is designed to give the collections of the Center for Art & Archaeology (CA&A) and Archives and Research Center for Ethnomusicology (ARCE) of the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) broader access and create greater awareness about the music, oral and visual traditions of the country. The museum means to move the 'Images' and 'Sounds' collections of CA&A and ARCE in this new arena by making the materials more accessible to the diverse needs of a growing number of visitors across the globe. The virtual digital museum, even though curated, will be an interactive space for users to create their unique experience.
