A "Festive Ferry" meeting is being held at Reavenous Beastie on Thursday 8th October at 5pm to discuss a Festive Open Evening in December for shops, pubs, restaurants and anyone else that would like to be part of a late night open evening in the run up to Christmas. This is a great opportunity to arrange a joined up Queensferry event, to atrract business to the town, so we hope as many businesses can attend as possible.

The new Queensferry Crossing has outgrown the tallest bridges in the UK some 16 months before it is due to start carrying traffic across the Firth of Forth.

World Heritage title hailed as perfect timing as Forth Bridge celebrations get under way THE Forth Bridge’s newly-awarded World Heritage title couldn’t have come at a better time, according to the chair of Queensferry Ambition, who says Scots now have even more reason to celebrate. Timing is everything according to the BID’s (Business Improvement District) Malcolm Brown, whose team has put together a programme of events to mark the 125-year history of the Forth Bridge with s...upport from the Community Food Fund. Malcolm said: “What marvellous timing! The Forth Bridge has been granted World Heritage status only a couple of weeks before the start of the Forth Bridges Festival 2015. “You know what they say, timing is everything!” Queensferry Ambition’s Family Fun Weekend – set to kick off in South Queensferry on 25 July – has been designed to appeal to people of all ages from West Lothian, Fife, Edinburgh and beyond. The two-day event will include a ticketed Afternoon Tea Party and celebratory Forth Bridge Party, as well as free family fun in the Hawes Car Park featuringa giant Helter Skelter and kids’ Tea Cup ride, face painting, Giant Draughts and Crazy Golf. Special guests will include Linlithgow Classic Cars and The Absurdist Pipe Band, as seen recently on Britain’s Got Talent. In the marquee, people will find cookery demonstrations, a Ready, Steady, Cook-style cook-off between two of West Lothian’s top chefsusing fresh, local produce, as well as exhibitors from Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, Guide Dogs, St Columba’s Hospice and the Forth Bridges Forum, as well as Hopetoun House’s Victorian Games and the return of Queensferry Ambition’s Cantilever Challenge. Visitors will also get the chance to shop at the 125th Anniversary Market, whose traders will include Nics Vegan Kitchen, Edin-Burgers, Border Tablet, Allan’s Chilli Products, Oisen’s Farm and Planet Soap. Malcolm added: “I’d just like to thank everyone involved in particular Craigie’s Farm Shop, Hopetoun House and Network Rail for lending their support to this event possible. We certainly have a lot to celebrate. “The Forth Bridge and those who live, work and trade around it have created a lasting legacy of which we should all be proud.”
