Sumba - A Village in Suduroy in the Faroe Islands - Føroyar
Sumba is a village in Suðuroy, the southernmost of all the villages in Suduroy and in the Faroe Islands. The steep mountain in the background on this photo is called Beinisvørð (Beinisvord), a 469 metres high sea cliff, it goes straight down to the sea on the other side, it is the second highest sea cliff in the Faroe Islands. The population of Sumba was 252 on the 1st of November 2009. I took this photo in February 2010.

short film from Sumba, showing traditions at the Carnival, when they dance the traditional Faroese chain dance and hitt a very strong barrel (three barrels tied together with steel wire). It takes 5-6 hours to brake the wooden barrel and the iron ball inside it.
