ONEder Woman was born when I was no longer able to accept the treatment I was receiving and the bigotry I was exposed to as a minority working in the trades. I needed to change my situation. When I couldn’t find a professional company to work for, I realized I would have to create my own if I ever wanted a safe, respectful work culture.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I was not the only one dealing with the prejudiced “mansplaining” of a male-dominated industry. Although I was only “one woman,” I knew there were countless clients who were also feeling uncomfortable and disrespected by the workers they were grudgingly inviting into their homes.
So my promise to you is this: I will always respect the privilege of being invited into your home. I will never talk down to you or forget that you are the expert on your own home. I will always make sure you understand, and are comfortable with the work I am doing. I will always prioritize respectful client relationships, with excellent quality of work coming in a close second.
