The best place I have been too...great facilities...Beautiful beaches...
We stayed at Mango Bay the first week of February 2018. The location in Holetown is phenomenal, proximate to good restaurants and Limegrove Mall which has 2 small cinemas and many nice shops, coffee bars etc.
The resort itself has a small beach which shelves steeply with a good view over a nice bay. The pool is lovely and many rooms open onto it. The staff are very pleasant and highly competent.
The facilities are dated especially the bathrooms. Food is acceptable but not imaginative. Activities offered could be easily improved at little cost eg. A yoga class, a walking tour round Holetown, a talk about the history of the island.
Clientele are mainly older English people, easy to be around and not rowdy at night.
We would return knowing the limitations but enjoying the many positives of the resort.
We spent our sping vacation in Mango Bay resort. In contrast with the large resorts we visited in the past, this resort is quaint and charming with a great view of the ocean. My son Joshua’s 11th birthday was celebrated so thoughtfuly that he asked me to write a special 5-star review from him. Many water sports were included and others arranged by the resort. We will definitely return!
I recently retunred from 10 night holiday in Mango Bay. We booked a standard room, it was very poor. Room very small and in need of upgrading. Noise coming from bars outside of the hotel on Friday & Sunday nights was terrible. Having complained we were offered an upgrade with a huge cost to us. It is a small hotel and 10nights is too long. On the plus side, the staff and the service were the best I have ever encountered. Food and drink were excellent
AVOID AT ALL COSTS-SERIAL HOUSEKEEPING THIEF
Being an all inclusive hotel there was no need for carrying cash on premises. By day 3 at this place it seemed odd that my supply of B$ cash in my purse was considerably less than expected. Realised at this point, with hindsight my handbag and that of my daughter had been tampered with in our room. Mine having had B$200 taken from it. Left a trap for the less Than intelligent housekeeper- had before and after photographs to prove it. Left my zipped purse in a zipped handbag in a hold-all out of the way - there was no reason for this hold-all to have been touched. Low and behold 5 minutes after housekeeping cleaning (more like cleaning out!) the room, the bag had noticeably been tampered with. Called the manager who witnessed us opening the purse and another B$130 gone. Spent 7 hours with police, who called their forensics team out.
Long and short of the story is stay away from this place until they can sort out their dishonest housekeepers. Got no recompense - said we had signed a disclaimer against all losses. Might have done this but DID NOT ask for anyone of their staff to get access to our room and rifle through our possessions. They do a turn down service - ha ha - gives them a double opportunity to help themselves. Felt very uncomfortable staying at this place after that and told them all to keep out of our room.
Been told by their social media coordinator that we had a safe in the room- it's sure isn't big enough to put three suitcases in! Nothing is safe here. Take heed and avoid like the plague. So many nice places to stay in Barbados where you can feel safe 24/7. Couldn't wait to get out. The taxi driver was so embarrassed for his island that this had happened. KEEP AWAY!!
Smallish friendly hotel with great service.
Food ,views and staff all fantastic
From the moment you arrive you know this place is good, really good.
Typically Caribbean in that nothing seems to be new or pretentious, a place where service is good by local people. The whole hotel is a happy place to be with great food and views from the restaurant and beach.
You will see reviews of noisey neighbours bars, once a week karioke at the One Love Bar, join in its great.
One last note the water sports are free including bob cat and water sking. Further more swim on the beach with turtles and tropical fish. They have snorkels and life jackets too the turtles are in shore so easy to find.
My wife and I stayed at Mango Bay for 7 nights and could not have felt more welcome. From the moment we arrived the service was excellent. All the staff are lovely and nothing is too much hassle for them. Check in was a breeze and complimentary rum punch was very much appreciated.
The rooms are everything they need to be. Spacious, with large comfy bed, balcony, safe, and my usual bugbear was happily avoided: I could fit my head under the shower head (6'3" male here). Okay, some of the decor looks a bit tired but I wasn't spending much time in my room anyway.
The pool is clean with plenty of loungers and waiter service. Ditto the beach, which offers stunning views especially at sunset. It is a sandy beach with only the odd rock underfoot in the sea and a swimming area coned off with buoys stopping any watercraft getting in your way. We were also able to borrow snorkel and mask from the watersports hut and swim out amongst the sea turtles amongst the rocks which lie under the water a little further down the beach. This was magical. Do it around 10.30am when the catamarans all moor up as they feed the turtles...
We enjoyed the waterskiing, stand up paddle, glass bottom boat and kayaking, all free of charge with the stay. There is also a free catamaran trip which we sadly didn't get chance to try but I'm told is well worth a look.
The restaurant is superb. The quality and range of food on offer is top notch and the staff are so attentive and helpful. Barbecue night was also a real treat. Steak straight off the grill and cooked exactly how I'd ordered it. Lovely.
The bar is my favourite part of this hotel. The staff are amazing! The cocktails are awesome. Shout out to Rondell who can make a 50% alcohol drink taste like juice and to Tre who is just the nicest barman I've ever encountered. The other staff are also brilliant, happy to chat, make up cocktails on the fly and really are a credit to the hotel.
The hotel is well situated for the local supermarket, shopping mall, bars, restaurant and is on the bus route. Do try the One Love bar around the corner on a Sunday night. Trust me it is a great experience.
Thinking of negatives (are there aren't many) I would suggest is better wifi coverage. Unless you are in one or two certain spots you haven't a hope of getting on the hotel wifi. Certainly not in the bedrooms.
The evening entertainment was also on certain nights a bit boring.
However, overall an absolutely amazing stay. If I was to return to Barbados I'd pick this hotel!
Fantastic all inclusive hotel in Holetown, close to great shopping centre, if you like shops. Great food; clean rooms and friendly staff. Water sports plentiful. Swim with turtles which congregate close to the hotel. What more could you ask? Will definitely return.
Thank you to all the staff for always being attentive , we enjoyed our stay and the water amenities at MB! Hi Pat!
It would of been four star but there was a few things that needed to be addressed. I would rate it 3.5 if I could.
They didn't change our bedsheets our entire stay they merely re-spread the bed. I know because we killed a mosquito on them and the stain was there for the whole of our stay.
Despite this the cleaning staff regularly knocked on our door, in one day they came to the room 4 times!
Even though they were very nice people I would of liked to be visited less they didn't dust or wipe the tables, there was no bath mats, they didn't give us another box of face tissues when they ran out.
The room was nice if a bit dark. I would of liked a mini refrigerator to keep drinks cool and maybe a small window for more natural light and privacy.
The restaurant, apart from the greetings from the managers who were amazing( Pedro, Marcia and Tanya?) Wasn't great. The service was slow, out of 10 days only 3 days has delicious meals ( BBQ and buffet choices). The rest of the food was disappointing and often came out cold.
Some of the waiters were lovely, I think both Tanya's ( Tonia?) Definitely stood out as being friendly and chatty. Some other waitresses were unfriendly to say the least. Miserable faces and frowned heavily. Once we didn't eat one of the courses at dinner, upon hearing our complaint a few of the waitresses sucked their teeth loudly and mumbled under their breath.
The good stuff
The views were beautiful, even though it rained during our trip which was a bit disappointing but couldn't be helped. Some of the staff were very sweet and we had some lovely conversations.
We were greeted at the hotel with a smile and a cool drink and towel which was refreshing after our journey.
As I have previously said the managers were wonderful as were the bar staff( Chevas, Tre, Ronald and Khaleed). The conversation and good service from the bar extended on the beach area where I felt well looked after with drinks and cool face towels.
The beach staff (Amir) was very helpful, getting us beach umbrellas, sun loungers and swapping our beach towels with a smile.
Some little improvements could make the Hotel amazing.
Came here for our honeymoon and the staff go above and beyond and have made it very memorable. The food has been spot on. Beautiful location and fab hotel. Will certainly come back!
Fantastic hotel stayed 20th July to 3rd August staff and management first class food very good with lots of choice will be back
Absolutely fantastic place. Very welcoming delicious food and chilled atmosphere.
Friendly and helpful staff, good food and comfortable accommodation.
Stayed at Mango Bay for a week, from March 12th to 19th . Can honestly say that this is now our favourite hotel in the Caribbean! Wonderfully friendly and efficient staff - excellent food and drink - and a great location. It was such a pleasure to be part of the Mango Bay 'family' for a short while. Our thanks to all the staff who made our holiday so special. We hope that it is not too long before we can return.
My favorite hotel. Great staff, excellent food.
Relaxed atmosphere, beautiful setting and friendly helpful staff.
Sister hotel to the island inn and allowed to use all services free. Excellent service and views.
Without question one of the best hotels experienced anywhere in the world let alone Barbados...quality service, food and accommodation...perfect for anniversaries...
